Kai is thirteen too, but he looks... ephemeral. His bio-luminescence is bright today, flashing blue with his agitation. He’s hovering—literally floating—three inches off the couch.
"And Aria?" I ask, walking in and kicking off my heels.
"In the cloud," Alex says from the kitchen, pouring wine. "She's been deep-diving for six hours. She says she found a new cluster of nebulas in the data stream."
Aria is fourteen. She’s beautiful, terrifying, and mostly silent. She communicates in packet bursts of pure thought.
