Certain. Her teeth gleamed under the light. Her claws dragged against the floor. Ready. I squeezed my eyes shut for a second. I thought I had a second chance. Thought maybe, This time, Things would be different. A quiet, bitter thought slipped through. Why would it be? Then, A crash. Something slammed into her. Hard. A second beast. Bigger. Faster. Furious. They collided, claws and teeth clashing in a blur of movement. The room shook with the force of it.

Chapter 41: A primal snarl tore from her throat, her eyes shifting into a fierce crimson glow. The atmosphere dropped, the air thick with a suffocating coldness. She lunged forward with an astonishing speed, a blur of brown. Her sharp dark nails struck, aiming for my chest, but I sidestepped. The crowd cheered, a mix of anticipation and excitement. With a loud roar, she successfully dug her claws into my shoulders, drawing blood, a stark contrast to my white fur. I groaned, slamming my body against hers, making her lose balance. We rolled across the ground, biting and clawing at each other.

Are they thieves? I wanted to take a quick glance, but my eyes felt heavier. Soon, I felt a sharp sting on my arm. I opened my eyes, but saw nothing but pure white, and then heard my name. Was this a nightmare? Shortly, I opened my eyes and saw some creatures. Their description matched very well with the ones I had read in a horror story —long legs, sharp claws, ugly looking with their fangs bared. Only one thought was in my head—Run!

With a loud shrieking noise, the beast emerged from the water again, this time aiming for my throat, ready to plunge his spike teeth into them. I don't know what came over me, but I felt something from within. I felt a sudden burst of energy surging through my veins. A memory of a man crossing his hands together in an X sign flashes in my head. Without waiting further, I copied the same things and the unexpected happened. As my hands met together in an X sign, a strange force burst out of my hand and hit the beast away. The force pushed it backwards, slamming its scales onto the canyon rock.
