It dropped down from its perch, opening its wings to stall its landing, but only a little. Ilyria woke crying out in pain as the owl sank its claws into her flesh. “Remember, Ilyria,” said the owl, “This is only what you want it to be.” Ilyria sat up, rubbing her arm. The owl flew out the window past the monkey calling, “Be ready.”

When I looked up, I saw two bright yellow eyes staring at me intently. “Ole, good to see you.” Thank God his cup was full. “I see Owen pleased you tonight." The brew smelled bad, and I had no desire to refill it. Owen was brewing some sort of rodent tea for clients like Ole, the were-owls. "Do you need anything else?" He looked down at his cup for a moment, and then his large, unblinking eyes met mine again. "No." I knocked on the counter and smiled. "We had a great chat."

His voice, low and steady, broke the silence. "Why have you brought me here?" The owl's head tilted, slow and deliberate, its eyes gleaming like molten lava in the dark. The other owls shifted on their branches, the rustle of feathers echoing in the silent night. "Speak to me! Amilek screamed, sounding frustrated. Over and over again he had told his mother about this very situation, about the owl, but she didn't believe him. He sounded like he was losing his mind; now here he was seeking questions, yet he got no reply.

Blood-streaked tendrils of hair laid on the top of its gray skull. I stared in horror, my mouth parting at the sight of what stood in front of me. And I thought what I saw at the grey building couldn't get any worst. This was unnerving. It resembled a wolven. A dead wolven that had been woken from death. Somehow, that was worse than seeing something that was half horse. “Don't move Oliver.” I heard Arias say again. My entire being went still, the hair right in front of my face, the only thing moving.

The second one is the birds that recognize the normal wolves and they use their feet and wings but I do not know how they use that. Then, looking upward toward the sound, I growled, "Go away, you creepy mother fucker!" Few things bothered me. But the fact an owl could turn its head until it was looking over its shoulder and keep going until it's eerie yellow eyes were looking over the opposite shoulder, did. And I sure as shit didn't need its mythical omen at the moment—whether true or not—I didn't want a supposed harbinger of death screeching above my head.

The agitation made my ankle begin to throb. "Help!" I called, fighting hard to stay calm, "Is someone out there? I'm stuck! Help!" "Whoo-whoo!" Gasping, I looked over my shoulder. On a low-hanging branch was perched an owl. His feathers were various shades of brown and black. He cocked his head, purring a hoot, round eyes gaping at me. I couldn't keep down a giggle at the funny sight. While he wasn't the rescuer I was hoping for, I did have a weakness for cute, round birds, and this owl was one of them.

" With a groan, he rose and loosened his aching back. How long had he been gone? Minutes? Hours? He did not know. With a faint flutter, a spherical owl sat down next to him and looked at him with wide eyes. Azrael couldn't help smiling. He liked owls. They were such majestic predators, precise and absolutely deadly, but could also look like a two-year-old child who had just put on a diaper. "Who are you?" He asked her, still smiling, in his mother tongue. She just cocked her head and stared at him. “You don't have to say it. Everyone has their secrets. ”The owl rose into the air and its bright feathers brushed his forehead.

I hooted angrily. The owl screeched, diving at me with its talons extended. I flapped my wings wildly, trying to take a run. Instead of flying, I tumbled off the branch, falling face first into a bush. "System" I yelped, muffled by the leaves. "Do something." New skill unlocked; emergency hoot— stuns nearby owl for three seconds. "Emergency what now?" My rival landed on the bush, glaring down at me like I had stolen her man. My feathers prickled? Wait, what if the original owl soul really did steal someone's man? Great, now I'm paying for bird drama that isn't even mine.
