Although she was flanked by a worried Hayden and a terrified Titan, she felt no fear, only a nagging sense of urgency. Grandmother Alma led them down a wide corridor whose walls were cluttered with countless paintings. There were a few shelves lining the walls and these were clustered with ornaments. Cory suddenly realized that many of the paintings and ornaments were different depictions of owls: brown, black, spotted, grey, snowy and frequently perched in elm trees. Other paintings showed landscapes and creatures Cory hardly recognized. Those were otherworldly things: beings with many eyes and animal ears, little grey-skinned children, wolves walking on their hind legs.

I bit my lower lip as each student announced what kind of shifter they were. I was amazed by the different varieties. There were leopards, lions, tigers, hawks, cats, and then of course wolves and bears. When she reached Penny, she proudly stated that she was an owl. She was the only owl in the class, so she received a few gasps of admiration and she beamed happily. Then Professor Santina’s eyes flashed to me and I felt the color draining from my features. “I… uh….” I stammered. Professor Santina narrowed her eyes.

The next week was very hectic since it was finals week. I studied day and night and pretty much didn't have the time for anything else. What surprised me was that Geoff worked where I studied. He would even occasionally explain some concepts to me. I didn't necessarily need any explanations, but I thought it was hot when he went all teacher mode.
