I bit my lower lip as each student announced what kind of shifter they were. I was amazed by the different varieties. There were leopards, lions, tigers, hawks, cats, and then of course wolves and bears. When she reached Penny, she proudly stated that she was an owl. She was the only owl in the class, so she received a few gasps of admiration and she beamed happily. Then Professor Santina’s eyes flashed to me and I felt the color draining from my features. “I… uh….” I stammered. Professor Santina narrowed her eyes.

"What kind of job?" "Oh... I can't tell you yet. It's confidential. However, you will be rewarded. Very, very handsomely." The owl nodded in agreement. Sofia smiled in satisfaction. There was no doubt in her mind that the owl would do whatever she asked. The bird was always eager to obey her and she knew that the bird would never betray her trust. It could fly faster than her and could see through walls. It could predict everything she was thinking before she did it or could tell her exactly what she was planning to do next.
