The metal hissed open with a sharp Pshh, revealing a narrow corridor lined with glowing lights that pulsed like a heartbeat.
Nobody said a word.
Every step we took echoed, bouncing down the tunnel like a ghostly reminder that there was no way back. I felt the air getting warmer like we were walking straight into the belly of something alive.
At the end of the corridor, we entered a huge, open chamber.
It was circular, surrounded by glass walls, and at the center was a long, narrow platform suspended over a bubbling pool of something green and foaming. It hissed and spat tiny sparks when the bubbles broke.
