Emma later went upstairs to her brother's room. James' room was filled with things that he had insisted on carrying from Mina's place. He adores his things and wishes to take them with him wherever he goes. Emma faked a gasp seeing the room. On the bed, the blankets were covered by plushies and coloring books while color packs were laid on the nightstand unevenly. Mina had spoiled him a lot. Emma began to organize her brother's belongings. She placed the plushies on the bed, and neatly stacked the coloring books and packs on the nightstand. When she finished, she stood back and felt a warm wave of nostalgia wash over her.

I slept so deeply that night that I didn’t even realize that Kenton hadn’t come to me until I’d showered and dressed the following morning. Knowing that Cindy and Amelia were gone, and with no sign of my mother, the house felt oddly empty with just Godwin and me. I decided to give Kenton a call.
