My wife's student, Talon Palmer, hired someone to stab me, leaving me critically injured. In six years as an attorney, my wife Audrey Taylor had never lost a case. Yet she stayed up all night compiling nearly a hundred pages of trial materials, all to prove Talon innocent. I stood in the doorway for six straight hours, torturing myself as I watched her work. Finally, I asked hoarsely, "Why?" She didn't even look up. "You accused Talon of being the other man. All he did was ask that thug to pretend to be his brother and scare you. Everything that happened afterward was the thug's own doing. It had nothing to do with Talon." I shook my head in disbelief. Hysterical, I rushed forward and tr

I once saw him tear the head of a guy who was harassing a human girl, he was much younger and better looking back then but I’m pretty sure his attitude hasn’t changed. I perch down between two buildings across the street, a weathered road sign, pushed to the side giving me perfect cover. The sign warns people to be on the look out for potholes, a warning sign for patches of actual tarmac would make a lot more sense if you ask me, I think to myself while suppressing a snort, man I crack myself up sometimes. I’ve got a clear view of the building and whoever comes and goes when a burst of energy suddenly sizzles in the air. I’ll be damned! That’s Jack fck’n Morrison, I thought he was dead! I se

"Damn it, X. I'm not a child and Kate is across the hall." Unsatisfactory. "Boss card. I'm pulling it. You have two choices. A night here with me in a secure building where I can monitor you, or a trip to the ER and home with two bodyguards. Decide."

"If I win this bet, you'll pledge your loyalties to Zen with me using an omerta and step down from fighting for the position of the Godfather. Besides, it's not as if we had any chances, to begin with. We don't have the blood ability." Hearing Tracer put it so plainly, the Gambler pulled a long face. "Look, I'm a simple person. I make choices based on benefits, not blind faith." Not offended, the Tracer looked back at the fools chasing the red eggs. They might have monstrous stamina, but it wouldn't be enough to catch even a single egg without help. Gambler might have sensed it already when the event started, but there was something strange going on with Guild Carnage. However, it was merely

Elle kept on marching up the hills angrily determined to get to the warehouse, she was almost so close to the warehouse when she saw a guardian in front of her baring his teeth, she immediately shrieked and hid behind a tree. She peeked out from the tree and saw at least 10 guardians walking around with red eyes, baring their teeth. She quickly took notice of their position; 4 were standing a few steps away from her, 3 were just roaming around and the other 3 were standing protectively in front of the warehouse. "Okay, Elle you got this. Just distract them, quickly enter the warehouse and get the decors" with that she picked up 3 stones and threw them in random directions, making the guardia

Helena met his gaze without fear. “We have.” “And?” She looked toward Amelia. “The Hall has already spoken.” “We merely confirm its choice.” She approached the circular stone table where the Original Covenant rested. One by one, the three Council members placed a hand upon the ancient stone. A soft golden light spread beneath their fingertips. The Hall responded. The lead Archivist bowed his head. “The Council recognizes Amelia Carter as the rightful Guardian.” The silver keys carried by Marcus, Ethan, Samuel, Gabriel, Olivia, Henry, Eleanor, Richard, Elias, Captain Nora, Jonathan, and Victor glowed brighter for a brief moment before slowly dimming.

"But we fight smart. The Council's strength is their secrecy, their patience, their ability to operate in shadows. We drag them into the light. Expose their operations. Force them to reveal themselves." "How?" "I have contacts. Old ones. Vampires who remember when the Council was more active, who know their methods." He pulled out his phone again—the replacement Jeremy had given him. "I've already started calling in favors. Getting intelligence. Building a picture of their current operations." "And in the meantime?" Jeremy asked. "While you're gathering intelligence, my daughter is still a target." "In the meantime, Grace doesn't leave protected territory. Ever." Lord Castellan's eyes were h

The Enforcer tilted its head, studying me like a problem set down in front of it. Deviation confirmed, a voice echoed, not aloud but everywhere. Classification pending. My knees threatened to buckle. Kaden stepped forward instantly. “Back away from her.” The Enforcer’s gaze flicked to him. Secondary variables detected. Kael moved too, positioning himself slightly in front of me without blocking my line of sight. “You don’t control it,” Kael said to the council. “You aim it.” “That is enough,” the leader snapped. “Stand down.” The Enforcer’s chains loosened.

He tried to twist away, but I pressed the blade harder, drawing a thin line of blood. "Then watch your forces die for your pride," I said. "Because they are already losing. Look around." He looked. Council guards surrounded on multiple sides, outnumbered as more packs joined against them. Celeste screaming orders that no one obeyed anymore. The carefully maintained authority crumbled under the weight of revealed corruption. "This is not over," Garrett said. "The Council has resources you cannot imagine. Allies you do not know about. We will end you." "Probably," I agreed. "But not today. Today, you lose."

she gasped. "Nothing's impossible," Autumn said, her mind racing. She was watching the guardian carefully, studying its movements, the way the cracks in its body glowed brighter when it exerted itself. "It's made of fire and stone. It has to have a weakness." "Great, figure it out fast!" Leo said, barely dodging another swipe from the guardian's massive hand. Meanwhile, Aiden had been moving quietly along the edge of the clearing, staying low, staying out of sight. While the others kept the guardian occupied, he was doing what he did best.
