Before I could process it, the phone buzzed again. I picked up. Nina's voice came through. "Who are you? Why do you have Liam's phone?" I blurted without thinking, "I'm a god. I can see the future." She didn't miss a beat. "I'm a materialist. I don't believe in gods or ghosts." I hesitated. Then she said, "But I'm curious. Let's hear your predictions. What do you know?" Maybe if I told her, I could stop it.

Dane’s POV A call to my private number startled me, even though I was already awake. I reached for my phone and put it to my ear, not bothering to check who the hell was calling because whoever could find that number, was definitely not a small fry. “I'm sure you know I know now?” I paused in my head. Know what? And who the hell is this? That's when I checked the true caller. “Michelle Hart.” No way in hell. I nodded my head, even though she couldn't see me.

Anya's scent in the room was growing fainter by the second. A massive wave of panic swept through his entire body. For the very first time, he wondered if Anya had truly left him. He called his warriors over, ordering them to search for Anya's tracks with everything they had. Right at that moment, he received a text message.

"Leona!" called William who felt something was wrong with the girl in front of him. Leona couldn't say a word. She was still struggling to control her breathing which was getting heavier. "Don't kidding!" "Leona! Hey!" William seemed to be worried about the girl. He grabbed Leona's tiny body then helped her to find a more comfortable position. After that, he reached into his pocket to get his cell phone and contacted Ethan as soon as possible.

My whole body was scared and trembling, but I tried to be brave. I courage to approach his direction. I heard his heavy footsteps and also saw his shadow from the door. He knew he probably would be even before the call but it was the 'probably' that had him panicking. "Hey," Cailen replied softly, leaning against the counter. "Everything okay, Cai?" Asher asked, probably because it was a bit odd for Cailen to be calling at this hour when he knew Asher was at work. "Yeah, yeah… everything's fine, I just- I don't know..." Cailen said, not being able to come up with an excuse as to why he was calling other than the truth and Cailen didn't really want to admit that.

"I'm assuming you're not the chef." "God, no. I’m the man who makes sure the King looks like a King," he said, reaching out to flick a stray hair from my shoulder with a gloved hand. "And apparently, I’m the man who has to turn you into a Goddess of War in the next three hours. He called me at 4:00 AM, sounding... different. Now I see why." I was leaning against the car, trying to calm my nerves when Callan walked up to me. "My team will be leaving in a minute, do not try to be a hero Anaïs. Let the fighters protect you, please I won't be able to live if something happens to you" he said while he hugged me and nuzzled his face in the crook of my neck, taking in my scent. "We're all fighters right now Callan there's no leaders and members here. But I promise I'll stay safe, if you promise you will too?" I said back to him while taking a huge whiff of his strawberry shortcake scent in.

I clutch it tight, hesitating, uncertain whether to reach out for help or to continue facing my struggles alone. With a shaky breath, I finally make my decision, my desperation outweighing my pride. I dial the number on the card, my heart hopeful as I wait for the call to connect. Each ring feels like an eternity, the silence stretching out before me. After the third ring, the call is answered by a click, and then the distant sound of Hugh's voice.
