If he were to be with Rhea, it would not be for her money. Despite that, Duncan was still in a wheelchair and all of Wiltspoon knew that he loved Liberty deeply. Rhea had not made her interest known and had not dared reveal too much of it either. Duncan hurriedly denied, “I didn’t! I hardly ever interact with unmarried ladies. All the women I have to deal with for business are married.”

The primary exception involves Moira and Duncan. Moira and Duncan met when they were in high school. Moira was 14 and Duncan was 17. They dated for a full year, until Duncan left for college out of state. They originally planned to maintain a long-distance relationship, but Duncan broke up with Moira when he came home for his first winter break after leaving. Moira’s heart was shattered, especially when she learned through mutual friends a few weeks later that Duncan already had a new girlfriend.

Despite Duncan’s sad state, no one dared to look down on him. Duncan’s family owned Marlboro after all. However, the crowd was curious as to how Duncan got himself all beat up.
