Dryad's uncle said, immediately the two hunters on the walls hit the bottom of their spears on the wall twice, suddenly, eight large stony wild canid with their body glistening formed out from the walls growling as they landed on their four feet facing the direction of the snarling creepers sounds then with one whistle from Dryad's uncle they immediately charged inside the tunnel.

They might be scared, but they are willing to fight the intruders. Lestine and the other Omegas tried to block the hunter's pathway using the beds and cabinets in the chambers, but it held no use. Jacques the high wizard chanted and a group of 15-foot Golems appeared and easily threw the makeshift barricade on the cold floor. One by one, the Golems destroyed the walls, flattened the floor, crushed everything on the ground, and scattered everywhere. Bodies of wolves are mangled on the ground, some are dead. Those who were alive but couldn’t move were mashed against the stone-cold floor.

The camp was eerily quiet after the encounter with the creature. Soldiers who had once stood firm in the face of Shadow Beasts now exchanged nervous glances, their hands never straying far from their weapons. Lyra remained at the edge of the clearing, her amber eyes locked on the kneeling figure of the earthen golem. Its massive frame shimmered faintly in the moonlight, the glowing embers of its eyes like a flickering fire threatening to go out - or blaze anew.

They ate and kept eating until they were full. They laid on the floor and rested like they haven’t done in a long time. Then suddenly, the ground rumbled. They bolted outside not wanting the building to crash on their heads. A dozen goblins stood before them—giants in silver armor, easily three times their size. Their skin was like tarnished bronze, their eyes yellow with slit pupils. Their weapons were brutal: serrated axes, spiked clubs, twisted spears. The one in front bore tusks curved like sabers.

That was when I noticed it. Or rather… what was missing. “There’s barely any crystals out here,” I said quietly. My eyes scanned the ground again, certain I had somehow overlooked them. Back at the healer’s camp, crystals had grown naturally from the earth itself. They lined the pathways in glowing clusters, creating a barrier around the camp against the shadow demons. At least… when they still carried enough power to hold the darkness back. Even the guardian lookout point had crystals everywhere. They grew through the rocky ground and were built directly into the walls of the guardian hall itself, glowing softly day and night.

And every time, I feel it coming half a second before steel meets stone. “High—duck!” “Ward three—brace!” “Don’t chase him into the trees, you idiot—” At one point, an explosion of magic rips through a section of wall ten yards down from us where some old sigils weren’t properly refreshed. Stone cracks, dust billows, a gap yawns where no gap should be. Two young warriors are on either side of it, scrambling to push rubble clear of their fallen captain, trapped under a half‑collapsed crenelation.

The creature hit the eastern wall with the force of an avalanche. Stone exploded. The entire section of wall, thirty feet of solid rock that had stood for three hundred years, crumbled like sand. Dust and debris filled the air. I was thrown backward, hitting the ground hard enough to drive the air from my lungs. When the dust cleared, there was a massive breach in our defenses. Twenty feet wide. Maybe more. And through it poured enemy warriors, hundreds of them, screaming their battle cries. The demon-wolf stood in the center of the breach, roaring its triumph. We'd lost the wall. The real battle was about to begin.

Brilliant. She turned back to me. To my wolf. To the monster holding up a mountain. “Think,” she snapped. “You’re Alpha. So think. Cleric built this. That means there’s a mechanism. A weakness. What is it?” The spikes were at six feet. My forelegs were trembling. I had seconds. Think. The walls. The carvings. The water dripping — not water. It smelled like vinegar. Like— “Acid,” I snarled. “The walls. Limestone. The water’s acidic. It’s been eating the supports for years.”

*growling sound of a large beast* The frightening growl was heard even on top of the wall. The monster showed itself as it was trailing behind Cheng and Lianne.
