The Mafia's Crazy Obsession
The hairs on my arms stood up, static, and I realized that I wasn't alone as I thought.
Tall, iron gates protected the grounds, and there were cameras installed at specific locations, recording every movement. The sound came from just ahead, a short distance away: branches and dried leaves cracked underfoot, and I could hear the crunching of pine needles as well. Too heavy and noisy for a squirrel, bird, or mouse. Honey badgers sometimes could be spotted every once in a while, while Deers sometimes scaled the fence, but those occasions were extremely rare. As I jogged closer, I made out the sound of labored breathing. The intruder was human.
