I push myself up and climb down my bed, shaking my hands nervously as I ponder what I should do next to divert my attention. “A shower will do.” I inferred, finally getting back on track with what I should be supposed to do and hoping it could wash away everything down the drain. “A cold one to wake me up from this nightmare.” My skin is all sweaty, both from anxiety and morning exertion before the disaster. I took longer than necessary in the shower, letting the blasting cold water soak me to the bone and mostly aside from scrubbing myself raw. I was also mulling over my life choices these past few days, which literally sucks me up.

Natasha’s POV The water fell in steady streams, sliding over my skin, running down my shoulders and pooling at my feet before swirling into the drain. The sound filled the bathroom, echoing softly against the tiled walls, but it wasn’t enough to quiet the rush of thoughts in my head. I pressed my palm flat against the cool wall, closing my eyes, letting the heat of the shower wrap around me like a cocoon. It had been three days, yet every time I let my mind drift, I found myself right back in that moment, reliving it all.

Was I out of my mind? Shaking those intrusive thoughts out of my head, I stand under the shower and let the water fall over my head and body. Under the shower head, the throbbing in my head gets to a bearable point, and I'm thankful for that. I brush my teeth quickly and put my hair in a bun before getting out of the shower.
