She enjoyed learning about the history of the vampires and the places that they lived in. Just as she enjoyed traveling to old little towns like Willow Creek and exploring its history. There wasn't a thrill in her mind to being sucked on by a person who was likely hundreds of years old. Even if most of them were impossibly lovely to look at. Charlotte hadn't met one vampire yet that ever convinced her that signing up with an agency would be a good idea.

I stumble blindly after him as my breath comes in ragged gasps. I hear the creak of a door opening ahead. Light floods in, momentarily blinding me. I trip over something solid, hitting the ground hard enough to knock the wind from my lungs. “Get up,” my dad commands, his voice strained as he hauls me to my feet. I let out a wheeze, struggling to breathe. Then I see it—the thing I tripped over. A body. A werewolf. Dead. I choke back a scream, forcing myself to look away as my dad pulls me onward. The shouts grow louder. Guns? Cannons? I do not know.

As I delve deeper into the file, my heart sinks at the sight of stamps bearing the word 'dead' imprinted on the images of people who died in their partial werewolf form; claws out, teeth out, hairy body. With each turn of the page, my nausea mounts, causing my hands to tremble uncontrollably. Though these faces are strangers to me, their death twists a painful knot in my gut and fills me with a shaking sense of sorrow.
