Aiden's POV "Rhea, it's me." I slowly raised my hands. "I'm not going to hurt you." She still held the dagger, her body trembling. "What did you see in your dream?" I asked softly. She stared at me, her eyes full of distrust. "I dreamed... I dreamed you pushed me to the Red Fang pack," she whispered. "You said I was your best gift to them." The pain was suffocating. Even reborn, the shadows of the past were still tormenting her.

Raelynn POV: Having a safe place was a needed necessity when it came to keeping my mental stability stable. My mental psyche was a bit fragile. It was easy for my mother and older sister to pick apart whatever wall I had built up. Throughout the years, it tumbled down far too easily without much effort on their part. Whether they came at me separately to enjoy their own private toture or enjoying their sadistic sport of tag teaming until I was a pitiful, sobbing mess, I was at their mercy day after day.

The skin on my forearms bears faint purple tracks where they inserted needles daily, without mercy. But the real damage isn’t on the surface. It’s buried in my mind. Better to be rejected than murdered in my opinion even though I did hear rumors here and there than being rejected was sometimes even worse than death in itself. The rejection supposedly left your soul empty and there was no happiness left in you. In time you turn into a vicious beast that cares for nothing and no one. That was not the best option either, but I was adamant to believe that those rumors were just that. Rumors. You know what they say, you tell yourself anything just to make an excuse for your actions or something like that.

But guilt was louder than desire. I pressed my forehead to his chest instead of closing the distance. “Reid…” My voice cracked. “This is exactly the problem.” His grip loosened just slightly. Not gone, just… listening. “I’m supposed to end things with Liam tonight,” I whispered. “He’s planning something big, and I’m here doing shots and dragging you into my apartment like I’m the main character in a disaster movie.” Reid let out a quiet breath above my head, his chin resting lightly in my hair. “You are a disaster,” he murmured, not unkindly. “But you’re my favorite one.”
