Aria’s breath caught in her throat as coils slid from the shadows, scaled black streaked with gold and deep red, wrapping slowly around the base of the chamber like a throne in motion. The serpent rose from the stone, gliding along the smooth floor until her face hovered inches from Aria’s chest. Deep purple eyes met hers. Glowing. Bottomless. “You smell different,” Eris hissed, her voice curling around Aria’s spine like incense smoke. “Like you’re already claimed.”

A low hum came from her throat before she spoke again. “Innocence. You have taken it.” Her face turned into a satisfied smile before her body straightened. Her eyes grew wide and her lips began to move rapidly, like someone had changed the speed, making her mouth not match up with the words the voices were saying. “Crimson approaches and the redeemer is near. I now turned to Critsy knowing it had to be said. “Gorm does not lie. Everyone listens, these are good people a good pack that is far stronger than we could ever be because they allow everyone to be who they should be, mate whoever they want to mate.” I watched as his eyes met Claire’s and she quickly put her head down. “There is hope here and love here. Catherine commands. Selene and another witch carries Brea between them and enter into the rift with some other witches even as Lord Bail screams in indignation and the cold ones throw themselves to their death inside the red smokescreen in huge droves. The rift closes as the last witch enters. The red smoke begins to recede slowly until it is just a few meters around Catherine, revealing the drained bony dead bodies of six witches on the floor beside her, and the two still standing beside her quivering hard in exertion.
