Damian crushed him against the wall, his hand plunging into the sergeant's chest, seeking his heart. "Ahhhhhhhhhh!" Sergeant Chriswell's final cry of excruciating pain reverberated through the room before he crumpled to the floor, lifeless. "Nooooooooo!" The Sheriff's anguished scream filled the air. Damian turned his attention toward the sheriff, his steps deliberate and menacing, as he slowly approached. "What are you?" the sheriff trembled, his voice laced with fear. "DEATH!" Damian replied, his words dripping with malevolence and a chilling certainty.

His fall made a loud thud as he dropped heavy on the floor. Dan was still taken by surprise as he stood frozen on the stop. Behind Damian's dropped body stood Mr Jones Vones in his wolf form. He looked stronger and bigger than both Dan and Rafe combined. Dan blinked several times as he still could not believe his brother had just been killed. He stood there,his jaw dropped as his mouth was wide open, tears dropping from his face slowly. "Maybe if you had made that decision of who I was to kill, I would have let one person go home alive, but you didn't. And guess what? " He giggled as he threw Damian's heart from one hand to the other, he was basically joggling it.

From our scouts in the western territory.” I arch a brow. “Damian’s lands?” He nods. “There was…an incident.” I gesture for him to continue, though my chest tightens. It’s always something with Damian. Raided borders. Sabotaged trade. Disappearing envoys. For twenty years, we circled each other like wolves with locked jaws, neither of us willing to back down. “He’s dead,” Corin says finally, voice low. “Someone killed him. Throat slit in his study.”

“Shut up! You were my wife. And you betrayed me.” As he ranted, Naomi’s hand slid to the floor, fingers brushing against a fallen pistol but he didn’t notice. “You think you’re better than me, Myles?” Damian snarled, stepping closer. “When I’m done, I’ll…” Bang! The gunshot cracked. Damian froze with eyes wide and blood blooming from his chest. Naomi fired again and again screaming through every pull of the trigger. He staggered backward with arms flailing, and then he was gone. Falling off the roof with his scream swallowed by the night until it ended with a distant, final crunch.

That laughter stopped the moment my men dragged him out of his seat. “What the fuck?” he barked, struggling against their hold. “Do you know who I am?” I stepped forward, adjusting the cuffs of my suit. “Yeah. You’re the piece of shit who’s about to regret ever crossing me.” Damian’s face paled slightly as realization sank in. He thrashed harder, but it was useless. My men shoved him into the back of the car, slamming the door shut behind him. His guards tried to interfere. They died for their trouble.

I kneel in front of Mom to see if she’s conscious, or alive though. Her injury looks very severe and critical. “They got Adrian and killed my mother,” Damian says, radiating rage and pain from his voice. Mom starts to cough, she breathes in my scent then I feel her calm down and go back to sleep. “They will pay for what they have done. Right now we need to get you two to the pack’s clinic.” I console Damian. He hits my hand off his shoulder, “I’m fine,” he says as he’s struggling to get up.

Damian shifted back and came up on one knee on the floor with his head bowed. "I failed you," he said finally with red eyes. His voice was rough and low. "I lost control and I let Cassius provoke me. Now, we don’t have the antidote." I crouched in front of him. "You have not failed me, Damian,” I said as I placed my hands on the side of his face to force him to look at me. “You have never failed me.” “He had the antidote… and I killed him,” Damian replied, his voice laden with guilt.
