I tried to wrench it free.
She smiled.
It was subtle, barely a flick of her fingers, but I saw the signal. The next instant, the door burst open.
Stray wolves poured in from outside, their movements sharp and coordinated, their eyes glazed with unnatural obedience. Before I could react, two of them lunged toward Dana, slamming her to the floor and pinning her down.
“Dana!” I shouted, my heart slamming violently against my ribs.
She cried out, struggling weakly, her body already exhausted from the earlier attack.
