Chapter 28 ~ Valerie's POV ========== After ending my call with Dante, I had a mix of emotions in me as I was happy because he was spending time with his parents, Mr and Mrs blaze, and at the same, I was sad because I wouldn't be seeing him again today. But I had to quit these selfish thoughts of everything because my ankles were killing me. So I remained on my bed as I lay still. Then suddenly, my phone rang out, and I stretched out my hand by my side to pick it up.

The drawing has evolved in the short time she's been gone, taking on a haunting beauty that makes Lila's breath catch. "So," Lila says, settling onto a stool beside her friend, "are you going to tell me what really happened between you and the Alpha's son?" Dorothy's hand pauses over the paper. She considers deflection but finds herself suddenly weary of secrets. "I made him a Valentine," she admits, her voice barely above a whisper. "He tore it up without looking at it." Lila's eyes widen. "He did what?" "He didn't know what it was," Dorothy adds quickly, surprising herself with the defence. "He thought it was something else."

“I know. He really is a great guy. I also feel very comfortable and at ease when I’m with him. But emotions can’t be rushed. We both need time to figure out whether we’re truly compatible. “You don’t need to worry so much. Just relax, enjoy your tea, play some chess, and have a dance with Mom.” Mr. Stonecutter knew Valerie was strong-willed as always. He didn’t press the issue any further. He patted her shoulder and went downstairs with Mrs. Stonecutter to relax. After putting the dishes into the cabinet, Valerie returned to her bedroom. She picked up her phone and immediately noticed a verification message in the notification bar. It was from Dominic. She ignored it, walked over to the wind

Beta Hunter counters and hangs up. “Damien, do you mind if I make a call?” Valerie asks the man beside her. “Go ahead. You have been a good girl. That's your reward. But can you ask him when he's coming back?” King Damien states, and Valerie looks at his face with suspicion. “Why do you want to know?” King Damien laughs but replies casually, “Don't worry, I don't plan to kill your lover yet. I just want to know in order to keep you here with me.”

I was surprised that she was allowing him to play with her, that she was enjoying the sight of him being happy. Had it been Eva, I knew that she would not allow Daniel to play. I knew the struggle that she gave Daniel when he first entered the pack. She was pushing him to play the role of my son. But whenever I resented that, whenever I stepped back, she just blamed him. “That's a very beautiful butterfly.” Valerie said, smiling at our little boy. He nodded in excitement before catching sight of me.

The slippery, conniving, green snake who had lied to Cordy that I cheated on him with his beta. All I wanted to do at that point was get off the bed and pull that annoyingly gorgeous hair out from her hair sockets and then watch as they fall to the floor strand by strand until she becomes bald like alpha Lockwood. But I didn’t do that…yet. “I have no need to talk to a figment of my imagination. You should go back to the land of the living and find the people who need you there” A confused look graced her face before changing up to pure amusement. “Hold on, Valerie; don’t tell me that you think you’re already dead and in some kind of alternate universe?”

“That sounds fun. I can always grade papers later.” “Now, that’s a good girl,” Damien said as she heard him leave his chair. “So, what can we do to help?” Valerie couldn’t believe she was about to have dinner with the man who had just beat her ass and his girlfriend, a woman who had no idea the two of them were involved in some twisted sexual game. Shame filled her as she followed Holly into the kitchen.

Valerie hesitated. Then sighed. "I didn't want to say this before." Nobody liked that sentence. Not anymore. "What?" Daniel repeated. Valerie met his gaze. "Your mother visited Victor the night before he died." Silence. Absolute silence. Daniel froze. "What?" Valerie nodded slowly. "I saw her." The room seemed to shrink. Ama felt her pulse quicken. "You never mentioned that." Daniel's voice was dangerously calm. Valerie looked guilty. "Because I didn't understand its importance."

His eyes twinkled in anger before he nodded at me and left the place. When we got out of the store, exactly a van stopped and Valerie went out. "Got any clues?" She hurriedly asked us. I shake my head at her, "Still none!" She cussed under her breath before she kicked the small rock beside her. "F*ck! Who the hell had the guts to take her, huh?" "Who else?" Omega Jin interrupted. "The vampires, of course! This is what they are doing!" Valerie squeezed her eyes shut and massaged her temple. "Where is Duke?!"
