Everyone wanted to date me until they knew what a freak I really was. I still remember who was my first, though. Well, it was kinda revenge over a girl in high school. Her name was Darcy. She liked the football captain of our high school, Damian And he was into me. Weeks before prom, he asked me. And I said yes. Who would not. He was actually the most handsome guy. He was a dream guy. He was good at studies and sports. Darcy got jealous and told the whole school my dark secret about the ghosts. How did she know? Well, I helped her family with a bully when we were kids.

On my birthday, Daryl stood in the snow and waited for three hours. The moment he saw me, he immediately dropped to one knee. "Natalie! Will you marry me?" Daryl's nose was red from the cold, his eyelashes dusted with snowflakes that shimmered under the moonlight. For that moment, his gentle eyes reflected only me. My heart pounded wildly, and my hands fidgeted with the hem of my coat, unsure of what to do. Then, he stood and stepped closer. ELLIE'S POV Daniel looked at me across my desk, his face serious. "The condition is if you can let us restart what ended fifteen years ago," he said. He said it as if it was the easiest thing in the world. As if he was asking for a cup of coffee, not for a second chance at a marriage he destroyed. At first, I thought he was joking. I waited for him to smile, to laugh, to say "just kidding." I stared at him, silent, expecting the joke to land.

"Depends on what you think it is." Darcy's eyes went wide. She pushed off the doorframe and crossed the room in three quick strides, her flats silent on the carpet. She grabbed my hand—my left hand—and pulled it closer to her face, examining the ring like it was a rare artifact, something to be studied and admired. "Oh my God," she whispered. "Oh my God. He proposed?" "Yeah. He proposed, so I’m getting married." I displayed the ring in her face. "When? How? Why didn't you call me?" She grinned from ear to ear.

Lorenzo is practically bouncing as he watches me tilt the ring. On the insides, engraved on it are the words, 'Allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.' It's Mr. Darcy's first proposal to Elizabeth. "Lorenzo," I whisper, dropping the ring back into the box and scared out of my mind. "Why did you get me a ring?"

He looked at Darcy, then smiled, the expression sour and reckless. “Hello, Sean,” Darcy said quietly, leaning against the closed door. Sean eyed him with a mix of caution and rudeness. “What do you want now?” Darcy studied him—the bruises, the sneer, the restless energy of a man who thought survival was his birthright. “I’ve decided to make you a proposition.” Sean swung his legs off the bunk, stretching as if the room were his. “Yeah? Well, okay. But it’ll cost you plenty.”

“Please. It's definitely not as soft or comfortable as yours. Besides, I'm sure Marcello would forgive you. You're too pretty for him to just forget, and let's not mention your skills in bed.” I lifted an eyebrow. “Did you just call me pretty?” “Don’t get used to it,” she rolled her eyes. “Too late.” I shoved a fry into my mouth. “Put it in writing.” Darcy leaned forward, elbows on her knees. “You wish. So what’s your plan now, lover boy? Gonna drown yourself in cologne and bad decisions at the club tonight, hoping he shows up to claim you?” “Already did that last week. This week I’m going for sobriety and a lot of ass kissing.”

I raised my voice just slightly, and the older ladies at the table next to ours glanced over, eyebrows raised. "Oh!" Darcy looked intrigued. "Are you looking for a woman, then? Because I happen to have lots of friends who would be a perfect match for you if no penis is required. There's a doctor at my practice who broke up with her girlfriend a few months ago, and I think she's ready to date again. She's really cute."

Frederic chuckled as he held onto Alexander's left hand while Perez held his right hand. “I can't believe that I'll be spending a week without my son. My dad and Darcy’s dad ran towards the paper. “So, as we know, I am going to marry Darcy, as we are having our baby. I have decided to join Darcy’s dad’s business. What do you think, sir?
