DEVIL'S ANGEL
The towering spires of Ravenshadow loomed in the distance, a comforting silhouette in the vast wilderness.
"You seem more at ease than yesterday. Another visit to Barbara, I presume?" Xerxes observed, staring on the horizon, his tone casual yet probing.
The image of Mira moaning, twisting in his arms earlier that night, flashed in Daemon's mind. He shook his head to clear it. "No, but you are right. I have fed."
"How many? Ten? Twenty?" A hint of concern laced his words. "That must have been...stressful."
If it were anyone else, Daemon would have let the conversation die. "One. A girl," he confessed, the memory of her taste still vivid on his tongue.
