The grimoire turned out to be the largest book Cassandra had ever seen, with pages made of parchment illuminated with tracery, and it was open to a page thickly covered with elegant, intricate writing.

she murmured, stepping back. More of the newly embodied dead emerged from the ruins, circling Eden and Violet. Their mouths curled open showing their fangs. Hunger gripped each one, pulling them toward the king and bodyguard with impenetrable focus. "They're all blood elves," Eden realized. "He must've turned everyone in Toreva before planting the dead inside." "Their hunger will be insatiable," Violet said, bow drawn and ready. As horror rolled through her, the living dead drew near. CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE: Friday night was consumed with nightmares and at 4am I decided to give up trying to sleep. I leaned over to my nightstand and pulled out a book and a reading light. Might as well take this time to get something useful done rather than scroll away on I*******m again. It had been a bit but I was finally reading to finish the last book in this fantasy romance series I loved. I hadn’t wanted the story to end so I had put off reading the last book. I loved the romance between the two main characters, a bad-guy fae who turned out to be the good guy all along, and a human girl who finds herself thrown into a world of magic. I just loved their relationship, and the whole concept

A chorus of footsteps echoed through the trembling halls. The Council of the Dark World entered, seven cloaked figures enshrouded in shadows deeper than night. Their eyes glowed like stars, void of mercy. They floated inches above the broken floor, untouched by the chaos. Behind them trailed ancient chains of divine origin, dragging like the toll of death. Lucifer froze. "You!" he spat. "Show dare you walk into my dominion without any respect?" One of the Council members stepped forward, her voice calm as death. "This is no longer your dominion, Lucifer. You have broken the covenant. You have tampered with the primal balance of the world."

“Tell me how to stop it.” The robed figure was silent for a moment, the shifting shadows around them flickering like dying embers. “The path to salvation lies in Dawnfire,” they finally said. “The place where the Veil was first torn.” Dawnfire. The name had haunted his visions, whispered in the remnants of the past. The First King’s fall. The beginning of the cycle. It all led back to the same place. There were large leather-bound books, most of which looked shabby due to dust or old age. An old gold-bound book with foliage ornaments was located on the topmost bookshelf. It looked the thickest of all the books there. I was curious and looked at the contents. This book explains everything about witches, from rituals to how to fight with them. It was probably written by our predecessors. But some of the pages at the back talked about potions from plants as well as treatment steps using magic spells. I guess it's more similar to the rituals of white witches. I closed it and put it back on the shelf. Then I heard

My wolf replied. I shook off the "what-ifs" that held me back and turned back to the towering oak shelves. My fingers traced the spines of leather-bound books, all of them layered in dust that made my nose itch. "Focus," I muttered to myself. "One monster at a time." I immediately admonished myself. I continued to look until I found the books my dad had recommended. I pulled the four heavy volumes from the shelves. The History of Shadow Entities, The Blood Rites of the Unseen, The Search for Shadows and one volume of Pack Lore and Ancient Threats. I carried them to a secluded corner of the library. The dust felt suffocating, but I wouldn't let anything stop me.
