Dark mist poured into the valley like a living tide. Thousands of glowing crimson eyes appeared within the darkness. Magnus lifted his axe. "They're coming." The Shadow Legion emerged first. Behind them came towering beasts clad in black armor. Creatures unlike anything I had ever seen. "They're called Night Titans," Orion said. "They were believed to be extinct." Each giant carried a massive chain wrapped around its arms. Their footsteps shook the valley. Then... Everything fell still. A single figure emerged from the fortress. He wore armor darker than midnight. A long crimson cape trailed behind him.

The heavy main door of Caden's mansion clicked shut behind me. The sound didn't offer freedom; it sealed me into a new kind of prison.
