36: Twilight and Dawn Adjusting her eye from the light that comes from the chandelier hanging on the ceiling, Dawn is finally awake. “I’m thankful that you’re awake,” Elene spoke on the side. When Dawn sees her white clothes, she immediately thinks that she’s Olivia's assistant. “What did you do to yourself? You always lose your consciousness because of fatigue.” “W-What?” she asked, not really getting her point and then she realized something. “Did you cut my stomach again?” She then hugged her belly. It’s like she gets paranoid every time she thinks of what happened to her.

[Dawn] “Dawn?” he asks, his voice soft but sharp, cutting through the quiet. His forest-green eyes lock onto mine, and the heat in them is devastating. It’s like they’re burning through every layer of my defenses, leaving me bare. The air between us feels alive—crackling, dangerous, and impossible to ignore. “Oh, I need the snacks… down… here.” My words stumble out, half a thought, because my brain is already foggy. I can feel his gaze on me, heavy and deliberate.

I concluded. Dawn raised his eyebrows as he crossed his arms. “Who are you to order me around when you couldn’t even do your task as a hidden member and markswoman correctly?” he replied, which made me gulp. “You might’ve forgotten about how you got here alive, so let me remind you of your place: you’re in the same spot as Yve; both of you are just my underlings.” The atmosphere began to feel like a burden on my shoulders. Jazpher wasn’t mistaken when he warned me not to get on the bad side of Dawn.

He could do so many things to me and there was nothing I could do about it. "Avalyn to earth!" Dawn said, snapping her fingers in front of my eyes. "Huh?" I whispered. Dawn pulled at her hair and fell flat on the bed. "Come on, Avalyn! Listen," She snapped, sitting upright again. "Listen, why don't you think of this as a honeymoon... With the cutest man in the world! Think of this as the night you get liberated! And make sure you take notes because I am going to be learning first-hand experience from you!"

Dawn tilted her head to the side, "Daddy, please don't cut my throat!" "Shut up!" the impostor roared. "I am not your Daddy! That idiot is your real daddy. If you are going to beg anyone, tell him to leave now so you can live!" Dawn went silent for a few seconds that seemed longer than an hour. I looked up with my worry shooting to the sky. Suddenly, she resumed struggling and called out to me, "Save me, please! If you are really my daddy, save me!" My heart ached at her scream. Without thinking twice, I roared, "Guys, retreat!"

Dawn I stood at the edge of the training grounds. The cool breeze brushed against my skin, but it did nothing to calm the whirlwind of emotions inside me. The plan was set, and I was a key part of it. But before that, I needed to test the full range of my abilities by infiltrating enemy territory. My role was simple, at least on the surface. I’d summon the Lunas from the enemy packs, make them think I was naive enough to trust them, and then walk right into their territory, unarmed and unassuming. The idea was for them to believe they had me, and in doing so, we’d get the upper hand.

“Dante isn’t the enemy, is he?” Damien’s eyes darkened. “No,” he said. “He’s the mirror.” ⸻ Elsewhere, Dante poured a drink, watching live feeds from the estate. “Well done,” he murmured. “Now the real war begins.” Dante Westwood

CHAPTER 85 Camryn's POV Dawn broke over the corrupted landscape in shades of dark blood and copper rust. I watched it through the safehouse window while Miranda checked our supplies one last time. The sun rose through air that had been poisoned by decades of anomaly activity. It was too red and swollen, like something diseased trying to burn through toxic clouds. “Beautiful, isn’t it?” Amon said quietly from beside me. “In a terrible sort of way.” “I’m not sure ‘beautiful’ is the word I’d use.”

Lightning flashed overhead. Illuminating the wreckage. Something about the place felt wrong. Like the ruins were watching them. Waiting. The vehicles stopped. Everyone climbed out. Rain immediately soaked through Celine's clothes. Adrian stood motionless. Staring at the mansion. As though he'd seen a ghost. Then he began walking. Straight toward the ruins. The guards followed. Flashlights cut through darkness. Thunder rolled overhead. And suddenly— One guard shouted. "Sir!" Everyone turned. The beam of his flashlight had landed on something buried beneath mud and weeds.

Samantha Point of view It wasn't a good morning to wake up to. We knew that the moment we left the guest house we all slept in. The sky was covered in grey clouds and there was barely any light that shined at the moment. The weather wasn't going to improve any time soon either but there was no way that we would stop from performing the spell.
