I stopped half way; should I call the police or an ambulance first? A series of questions flew through my mind, but they slowly became more and more blurry, as one obvious one made its way through. I was a Kindred. I should only be thinking about how to be able to eat a full meal. Rules? To hell with rules. Since he was going to die anyway, it didn't matter if I ate a few mouthfuls. I crawled up to his neck. The smell of him was intoxicating. I breathed him in—all of his previous fear, dread, and sadness—and bit down hard.

The dungeon is where I ended up. After the kisses, the looks, the dance, the comfort. The only support line I held dear to my heart ruthlessly threw me to the dungeon. I was wrapped in my own thoughts as tears poured weakly from my eyes. Suddenly I heard the door open slightly and I rushed to see who it was. CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIX * * The Dahome dungeon, which is situated below the earth, is a black, rotting hole; not even the slightest flicker of sunlight penetrates. The wet walls are slimy, covered in mould that breathes a sick, sour stench, and the chains hang from the ceilings like deadly vines. A sound— drips of water. No, not just it. Footsteps. The figure sprawled on the cold ground, whose very senses have been sharpened from being trapped in the dark for so long, can hear it.

I was keyed up enough that I didn’t think I could sleep, but the comforting presence of my mates lulled me into a deeper sleep than I would have thought. ***** Dalia’s POV The darkness in the dungeon was completely overwhelming. CHAPTER 20 — A DESPERATE MOTHER Arianna’s POV The dungeon corridor smelled of damp stone and iron, the cold seeping into my bones the moment I stepped inside. The torches flickered along the walls, their light dancing across the rough surfaces, casting long, hungry shadows. Somewhere deeper, chains rattled faintly, echoing against the walls like a warning I couldn’t ignore.

Just growls low in his throat, “Stay still. Let him eat what we filled.” Darius pulls back just long enough to speak against my folds, breath hot. “Tastes like both of us now. Sweet. Dirty.
