Lenox laughs at us and pats our upper arms before he happily hops out of the ring of fire. Once he's far enough, I slam the door shut with such strength the fucking windows shatter. The demon hunter looks at me in horror, gulping down each breath he's trying to take. Luciano places his hand on my chest to stop me. "Easy, my friend, we're in this together, remember? Our kiddos might be murderous maniacs, but we have enough manners to at least say hi before we start gutting that motherfucker, don't we?"

This time he counters me, throwing up a shield of his own. Like a shockwave, it hits me hard in the chest, making it hard to breathe. I gasp for air but recover fast, conjuring a string of blue energy. I throw it at the demon, who doesn’t even attempt to move out of the way.

I am pretty sure that this young woman must have been tired of how deeply my eyes had been burning into her face. For a while I was lost, and not once did I ever consider reaching out to her. “Yeah…you can say that again," Keo mutters, brows drawing together. I look up at him. “You know her?” “I know of her.” He doesn't exactly sound happy about that. “Now I’m scared…” If Keo has come across her before, it probably means she has been involved in something unsavoury over the years. Keo rubs the back of his neck, considering whether to tell me what he knows or not. “She’s a Demon Hunter. She’s been tracking me down for years.”

THE DEMON growled loudly, spreading her tentacles fast that only point in one direction. Xurden had thought that this kind of creature didn’t even learn a single thing. They forgot exorcists that could face them existed everywhere, and he was the one who was best at it since he was a god. Demons always thought they were more powerful, which made them blind to the truth. That’s why Xurden didn’t have a hard time dealing with her. As the tentacles get closer, he raised his hand, releasing ice spikes from the bloody floor. The spikes stopped the tentacles from moving, which made the demon shriek aloud. Xurden didn’t hold back, and he sent a bigger spike toward the demon hitting her stomach wher

Now the general feels the power coming from this Lycan and knows that this particular Lycan can't be touched, but that doesn't mean that they can't play with him. The first couple of lower Demons attack Zachariah, which he manages to dodge, and then swings out with the Gurkha Kukri knife and connects with at least one of the Demons. The Demon hisses and Zachariah smiles as there is a smudge of black liquid on the edge of the blade. Unfortunately, Zachariah is unable to find or get a kill shot as the Demons all take turns in attacking him.

She seemed to peaceful in her sleep and I close my eyes. I'm startled awake by screaming and for a moment I forget where I am. The woman I saved was wielding a kitchen knife at me, fear washing over her face. I hold my hands up to show her I wasn't armed. I left my short swords by the door. Recognition fills her eyes and drops the knife. "The legend is true? You're the Dhampir," she asks in disbelief, reaching to touch my face. I close my eyes to her touch and picture my mother. Tears roll down my cheeks and she pulls her hands away. "Thank you for saving my life."
