I didn’t know where I was going—I don't know where they were taking me but the humiliation was too unbearable. A child started crying when she saw me. Her mother pulled her away, casting me a look full of disdain. A man spat near my feet. I flinched, startled, ashamed. Someone threw a shoe, and it hit my leg hard enough to leave a welt. I gasped, stumbling forward, hands outstretched to catch myself as I nearly fell. Laughter rang out from a group of women, followed by more jeers. One of them mimed spitting, and I flinched even though the spit didn’t hit me. My legs trembled with every step, each bruise a growing fire across my skin.

I had things to say and I was going to say them with tears and spit and a dramatic arm wave. “You don’t even understand what it’s like!” I cried, clutching a throw pillow to my chest like it could absorb my trauma. “You’re not the one who has to waddle around with heavy boobs and aching hips and a full bladder every thirty seconds! You’re not the one who has to cry at diaper commercials or get aroused by the smell of waffles or scream into a pillow because you don’t even understand what’s going on with you” He tried to speak. I cut him off immediately with another burst of tears and a very dramatic flop backward onto the bed.

Royalty nearly puked from the stench. He cursed, taking off the diapers. He covered his nose, and Zaiee frowned. His poop wasn't smelling. He kicked his legs in protest till Daddy began bathing him. I slipped and lost our baby. When Dylan arrived at the hospital, he immediately blamed me for failing to protect the child, and I believed his accusation. I held that tiny urn all night, apologizing to our baby. After that, I secretly began trying again. I endured thousands of injections and hundreds of bottles of medication just to surprise him.
