She and the queen already talked about this situation but they need to do it again to inform Dealla. She sighs before answering. I hate repeating. "It's Peony." "Oh, what a nice flower and it's the favorite of our friend, Amnisty. Right?" "You're right, her majesty." "Since you don't remember your name, darling. How about I'll name you Peony? Is it fine with you?" The queen strokes some strands of Dealla's hair. She puts it behind her ear. The queen stares at Dealla’s face.

She was the one who named me Aurora because it means dawn, which is her favorite time of day, and her favorite thing to paint. People interpret my name differently; some say that my name means first light or new beginnings, and they think that I’m this big ray of sunshine or something. Others think of me as the Disney character. It doesn’t help that I’m also a singer and love sleep, so I like being compared to the Disney princess more and find it to be more appropriate. I’m not a gloomy person by any means, but when everyone thinks of you as this ray of sunshine, some high expectations come along with that, and I don’t like to disappoint people.

I wasn't about to wreck a home. "So dumb." I wipe my eyes on my knees, but the tears don't stop. I look up and can see people making their way through the trees towards me. I sniff and rest my chin on my hands. My eyes trail down, and through my blurry vision, I can see dozens and dozens of flowers blooming around me. I furrow my brow, wiping at my eyes again and moving to sit on my knees and crouch over the flowers. I hadn't wiped my hands on the ground, but they were still blooming. Pink ones, purple, white. Still smaller than a quarter, but slightly bigger than the last ones I made bloom. And there were a lot more of these too. They continued to appear around where I sat as I watched.

But every word became empty if it has no action to back it up. She ditched everyone's go to choice of roses. They are a safe choice but she went with the unconventional idea of sunflowers. The site was decorated like a field of sunflowers, which Rosalyn liked. The bright yellow flowers reminded her of hope and optimism, and she needed all the positive energy she could get right now. The sunflower was her idea. Her love for them has reappeared ever since she visited the Chairman’s garden. She conveyed this idea to Caleb and he liked it.

Jade's expression brightened as she tugged at Esmeralda, before running her caramel hands on the sunflower plant. Sunflower. Jade's favourite of all flowers.
