Then nothing. Only the echo of my own heartbeat. Slowing. And somewhere far away, the sound of a phone ringing. Once. Twice. Then silence.

It appears as though it is emanating from very close proximity. Rose was unable to move and was trying to figure out what the sounds were while he was just partially awake. I feel like I have heard something similar before, but I can not place it.

All that was there were his serious eyes and perfect face. He leaned in closer and | could smell his breath. It smelled like rain and mint gum. | was breathing heavily now, my heart pounding harder and harder. His eyes were trained solely on my lips, then wandered back to my eyes. My back was pressed against his body as he reached for the mayonnaise jar and pulled it out. "This one, right?" He whispered in my ear, slowly turning the jar for me to see. I was too lost thinking about how close we were to understand what he was saying. The damn fluttering feeling in my stomach started again. He didn't pull away, his breath fanning against my neck. My heart starts to beat faster and I don't dare to breathe while I have put all my focus on listening for the sound. Minutes go by before I hear it again and this time closer than before!
