He is hurting me. "Open your mouth!" I flinch when he screams at me. He sounds so different, his eyes are so distant, and I immediately remind myself that I forced him to show me this part of him. My mouth immediately opens, partly in excitement and partly in fear. His hand leaves my chin, trailing down my stomach to my clit. My eyes roll back when he touches me. He starts stroking my clit slowly, forcing a moan from me. I scream when he slams three of his fingers inside me, finger fucking me like a man possessed.

That’s when I heard it. The faintest sound, almost imperceptible—like soft footsteps against the marble floor, moving just outside the window. Above the sound of the wind, above the sound of the people in the streets... I can hear that low, rhythmic thrumming. It sounds like a heart, but it’s too steady. It’s too perfect. "Do you hear that? The heartbeats in this room... they're not in sync." I paused, my attention drawn away from the spell book. My pulse quickened, a surge of anticipation coursing through my veins. I closed my eyes, focusing on the rhythm that filled the space, and there it was—a dissonance, an irregularity in the symphony of heartbeats that surrounded us. A wave of dizziness washed over me, and I placed a hand on my chest, feeling the erratic rhythm of my own heartbeat.
