“What the bloody hell is that?” I moved away from Ryker, my eyes were solely fixated on the book. Wiping away the shattered glasses, I did not care if it would hurt me. Once it was clean, I read the book to Ryker. “It is the Book of The Damned.” All I wanted was to get a hold of that book and satisfy my curiosity but when I did, I could feel the power surging from the book, my hands were painfully attached to it. Then the book opened, forcing my palm to hold it up the pages started to flip rapidly. So many images flashed through my mind but none of which I recalled. The book slammed shut and I blinked. I turned to Ryker and swallowed before finding my voice to speak, “Did you see that?”

I ask him and he stands and goes over to his bookshelves and pulls out a huge book and brings it over to desk that sits in the corner of the room. I quickly get up and moved to him wanting to see the content in the book. I look at the pages as Travis flips slowly through them and I realize every horror movie made in Hollywood was made from a creature of this book. I began to read a page and Travis went to flip the page to quickly and I reached down to stop him from flipping the page and my hand accidentally brushed his hand and chills went through my body to the tips of my toes and I turned to look at him and he was already looking at me.

Chapter 45: Nightmares Girl Night came faster than expected. I have been curled in my room reading different novels, which had kept me busy most of the time. The stories were a good distraction from everything happening around me. Suddenly, a heavy wind blew so loudly, hitting against my large window with so much force I thought it might break. I saw someone so familiar, their hair looked rough and wild, like something that came straight out from a horror movie and their eyes looked so wild, like only the white part of their eyes was visible, rolled back in a way that made my stomach turn.

The memories comfort and then swiftly spin around and wound me. All I can do for now, stuck in Greenway in this gilded cage, is keep out of the firing line. Back in the library amongst the records I picked up a couple of books for studying tonight in my room. They’re about demons and demonology. I’m going to work out whatever it is Roxie has awoken and find out to put the thing back in its place. The pages are dark and stained with age, the blood red leathery covers marked with hundreds of different users' hopes for answers.

It went straight through the monster like it was mist. But the mist hissed, pushing tighter, creating claws. “Help!” My voice cracked. “Somebody” And then the growl came. Deep. Savage. Close. A flurry of silver and black tore past the aisle, crashing into the gloom. Snarls filled the air, volumes flying, shelves cracking under the impact.

I had no time to waste, and that ocean of books was demanding my undivided attention. So, as a last resort, I checked the files for classification of books and eventually found the section regarding interracial mating. The topic of the two bloodlines was eye-opening for me, my heart flipped several times reading the details of the bonds. I was so lost in gathering those facts that time flew by, and I couldn’t notice the sun was setting in the East when Nova started howling painfully. “We’re going to lose something very important, Helena. I’m scared!” Her pure fear enveloped my body. I considered this reaction natural, as the chapter I was reading was terrifying. However, soon my stomach knot

she gives me a warm smile and just shakes her head before she nods and turns back to placing the books on the shelves. I quickly come across a book on bonds, but it takes me ages to find one about demons. I search through every book and shelf until, finally, at the very top, I spot a small, extremely dusty book. Although it doesn’t explicitly say “demons,” its title, “Monsters of Our World,” is the closest I can find.

Suddenly there was a short circuit in the room. A bulb which was hanging at the corner of the ceiling had an electrical impedance and at once it fell on the floor like somebody intentionally dropped it. A low growl was heard in the room and Amara knew it wasn't from Alex. The monster was right there beside them. A gut wrenching feeling of anxiety stuck her soul. Was he watching them?

But Becky owned her nerdy, geeky side. In the study, they split off and got down to search. It took hours combing through the books. They didn’t appear to be disturbed all that much. A few showed evidence of recently being removed from their place, but beyond that, nothing jumped out at Gemma. The section where books on lore and the supernatural appeared the most disturbed.
