Broken Vows, Rising Flames
Clara’s POV
The Doctor was quiet.
So quiet that my whole body began to fidget. His silence wasn’t normal—it spoke for itself.
Just when I wasn’t expecting, he let out a soft exhale and adjusted his glasses.
“Chemotherapy is a difficult procedure, Clara,” he admitted carefully. “For Maurice’s age, there are even more risks involved…. I’m sorry, but I can’t promise what the outcome will look like.”
My throat tightened painfully.
“But there’s a great chance for the treatment to work, right?” I asked weakly, trying to cling desperately to the little hope I had left.
