The hand was firm, assuring me of her love, care and assistance. The doctor walked into the room. He was a dark , shallow fellow with dark eyes. Lisa POV I almost rolled my eyes at the young doctor. He stood just outside my door, finishing a phone call and tossing around clipped medical terms. He couldn’t have been more than twenty-six. A heavy drum beat in my ears. I stepped back and stumbled, the strength leaving my legs, and I fell. The doctor caught me. “Are you okay?” I nodded, not understanding anything. “Breathe,” he instructed. “Slowly. That's it.” I followed his instructions, holding his arm tight. “Is he ever going to recover?” The doctor looked sad. “Honestly,” he said gently, like he was scared I would lose consciousness. “There's every possibility that he will make it.” He was probably telling me that so I didn't lose my mind.
