The doctor stepped inside a moment later, polite, professional, carrying a slim black folder that suddenly felt like it weighed a thousand pounds.
“Mr. Valerio,” he said. “Mr. Rivera.”
“Doctor,” I replied, nodding once.
We moved into the study. Elijah closed the door behind us.
