Hunter put the rabbit in the cage. We scanned the area, waiting for our next target. It took us a while before we spotted another prey—a small deer, moving cautiously through the underbrush. Hunter raised his rifle, sighting along the barrel, but the shot rang out wide, startling the animal.
He missed.
I threw my head back and laughed. That was all it took.
“Do you fuck that weak too?”
Hunter exploded.
He tossed his gun aside, and in an instant, he was all claws, rippling muscles, and snapping teeth. We were rolling through the woods, fists flying, leaves and twigs crunching beneath us.
