My stomach dropped. "What?" He nodded. "I hired investigators to find you after you dared to run from me that morning. It took them a week to find you." Something was slamming hard against my rib cage in a really violent way. I knew what it was. My heart. "I found out who you were—Matteo Leone, a twenty three year old bisexual man, living in your father's house like a prisoner." He leaned forward slightly. "I learned everything about you—your urm... useless family, and your situation within hours of funding you."

Bobson threw daggers while Hunter, on the other hand, launched an attack with his elongated nails – causing three huge bleeding wound marks on his arm. “Damn you f*cking son of a b*tch!” Samael whispered under his breath – as he managed to dodge incoming attacks from Hunter again. Samael was swift enough to dodge Hunter’s attacks – even though he was bleeding and so, that created a chance for Bobson and Alpha Hudson to get Luna Hera out of his hold. Hunter dodged another attack – but the rogues immediately came and blocked him. He took an abrupt stop – as he humped backwards. He took a side glance at his parents now.

This close, the Dine could not dodge, but Hunter also could not generate enough velocity to do any real damage, but it did hit the Dine in the gut and brought him up short. Hunter put some distance between them and scooped up another handful of stones and began slinging them hard and fast. The Dine ducked, dodged, and blocked with raised arm and hand. The jagged edges of the stones sliced and bruised flesh, some of the flatter ones even embedding in the fleshy part of the forearm, but the Dine’s implacable expression never changed and he never uttered a sound.

“Exactly. And I'm here to protect everyone. What's the issue here?” As I engaged in a tense dialogue with the hunter leader, I noticed Xander examining their equipment from his hidden position. His eyes opened wide when he noticed a symbol on one of their cars – a fancy eye inside a triangle. He looked at me and gave a small nod. We'd seen that symbol before, in old books about supernatural hunters. This was no ordinary group.

* Scar exclaims in my head, purring in satisfaction. *What is wrong with you, Scarlett, our mate is about to die and you're being horny?* *He's gonna handle it just fine!* Was her only reply before I shut her out. Xander is holding two guys by their necks and is using them as shield... Using them to block any bullet or arrow that is coming his way. My heart is beating fast, I'm scared that a bullet or arrow will actually hit him. The hunters aren't slowing down in their attacks, they keep firing their guns and bows in a rapid speed.

"Looks like negotiation time is over." Everything happened at once. Kade's forces opened fire on the hunters. The hunters, unnaturally fast, closed the distance with terrifying speed. Hail shoved me behind him and loosed a bolt from his crossbow, catching the nearest hunter in the shoulder, a shot that should have been lethal but merely made the creature stumble. Lena fired precise shots from her position, each bullet finding its mark but doing minimal damage. The hunters didn't bleed like normal humans; instead, a thick, black substance oozed from their wounds.

Hunter lands on the creature and it skids across the court yard before coming to a stop a few feet away from the hellfire, we grip it at the back of the throat and it cries out in pain, the guard shift and begin attacking as the creature is trying to shake Hunter off, it bucks but Hunter tightens his grip on it.

Vincent, Chandler and Adler looked at Hunter. “You said Mr. Hunter, and that’s my name,” Hunter defended. Chandler laughed. Vincent caught his forehead with his palms. And Adler just looked at the three as if they were annoying bugs. “No, Mr. Hunter,” Chandler replied to Hunter. He peered back to Adler and continued, “I called this man a Hunter because he is hunting evil guys. Right, Detective Adler?”
