Suddenly, Buddy bound up to them, tail wagging and tongue lolling out of her mouth. "I think he wants you to play with him," Andreas said, grinning at her. Rebecca hesitated for a moment, but then she found herself standing up and reaching for the stick. As Andreas threw it, she walked after Buddy, laughing as she playfully dodged her. Buddy ran towards her, tail wagging and tongue out, as Rebecca threw the stick again. They spent the next hour playing fetch, enjoying the beautiful day in the fields.

It’s a wolf—an Arctic one, by the look of it. Rare color, too. I’m certain it belongs to someone wealthy. It must’ve escaped.”

I whispered. “Good. First, you need practice.” He reached behind the sofa and pulled out a bright red rubber dog toy which was a squeaky bone. He tossed it across the living room, where it landed near the wall. “Go fetch, bitch. Use only your teeth. Bring it back to me.” My face burned with fresh shame, but the excitement and need to please him won over. I dropped down on all fours and crawled quickly across the floor.
