Love, Marylin. At last, Joana had gotten to the final page, and seeing nothing new there made her wonder if she would ever be a human again. She had moved into Marylin’s room a few days ago, and yet no memory or flashback had come. She would now have to continue her search for the council in the library, as nothing productive had come from reading Marylin’s diary, and the second one was nowhere to be found. She got down from her bed feeling sad and went down to the library to begin her search that she was very sure would be endless. She picked up a few books, went to one of the tables, and began to read.

Jane had decided to spend her lunch break there, hoping a moment of peace among books might quiet the storm in her mind. She pushed open the heavy wooden doors, stepping into the warm, quiet interior. The faint smell of old pages and polished wood greeted her, and she let out a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding. As she walked toward the reading area, her thoughts raced. “Something that can help him. Something to help us.” Lady Lily studied me in silence for a moment, then let out a quiet exhale. She stepped past me, her gown brushing the floor as she moved with practiced elegance. I watched as she halted at a shelf near the far corner, her hand hovering for just a moment before plucking out a book bound in dark leather. Turning back toward me, she held it up like an offering. “I believe this could help,” she said. Suspicion flickered through me. “Why would you give me this?”

She hit her knees in frustration, cursing her own failing body. Avery didn't rush them. She sat in silence until the air in the shack settled. When Ruth finally took a seat, her fingers were white as she gripped a cup of cold water. “I didn't steal a single line,” she whispered. “But somehow, Jenny presented the exact same design for the High Gala. My manuscript... my original sketches... they vanished from my trunk the night before. I don't know who took them.”

Mary said and held Star's hand while guiding her through the hallway up to her chamber. "My Lady, I am so pleased to see you back home in good health." Jane said as she walked towards Hazel in excitement. "Oh my dearest Jane, you look beautiful, come give me a hug." Hazel said and pulled her for a tight hug. "My Lady, I have plenty of things I would love to share with you, lots of stories to tell." Jane said with smiles plastered on her face. "I know there are stories that awaits me when I return, I have anticipated for your stories. Now come with me let's talk, I would love to hear all Jane's stories. oh, how I have missed your stories." Hazel said and they both began laughing.

Mara’s face lit up instantly. “Jane!” she said, stepping forward and wrapping her arms around a woman who looked… polished. Jane hugged her back, one arm careful because she was holding a stack of books, leather-bound, heavy, the kind people carried to look important. “Good to see you outside your cave,” Mara teased. “Though judging by those books, you’re about to disappear again.” Jane smiled, tight and controlled. “Probably,” she said. “But I’ll make time for you two. I always do.”

She reached for the gun in the drawer and brought it up to inspect. "I have a license for all of my weapons, including that one," he said in a disinterested voice. He was done playing with her, for now. "No doubt," she said sarcastically. When she found the chamber empty she replaced the gun and continued her search. Jane spent several fruitless hours going through paperwork and bookshelves with another officer. She pushed a dusty hand through the stray hairs that had escaped her bun, shoving them back. She had carefully replaced every book she had taken off the shelves. She wanted to toss them as she searched and take perverse pleasure in messing up his home and annoying the smug mobster, b

I was glad to adjust to a new phase of life and hoped for a better ending.
