Lucas’s POV I tried to stay away. I really did. But my mind kept drifting to her. I wondered how she was doing. Willow had faced two rejections in a single day and the same day she got her wolf. That was enough to break a seasoned warrior, let alone a girl who had spent her life being treated like a servant. I walked to her door, my hand hesitating before I knocked. One thing she noticed was a particular man who lived in the cabin alone but gets occasional visitors. With time, Willow realized that they were werewolves too which was perfect for her plan. She also picked extra clothes in case there would be any need for her to shift. She spied from a distance behind the thick branches of the cold forest but she knew she had to get closer in order to get the information she needed. Moving with caution and a little twist in her gut, Willow quickly crept to the back window. She heard voices, smelled weed, alcohol and other distasteful substances she couldn't name.

Nathan said as he walked past them. "No, you should rest. I'll make something to eat," Willow stood to her feet and went to him. "Why should I rest?" he asked as she dragged him to his bedroom and opened the door. "You've been driving for hours. Take a shower or bath and take a nap. I'll wake you up when I'm done," Willow said and pushed him in before turning to leave. He chuckled as he watched her walked down the hall before closing the door. "Come on girl," Willow called for Star. The dog eagerly ran to her side and followed her into the kitchen.

I ask warily. "I don't know," Willow says as she turns to look at me. "I don't know whose side she is on." "Why did you take the job?" I ask her quietly. "We could have gone into hiding." Willow snorts with laughter. "Faris will never stop hunting me. I cannot ask you to leave your pack." Brushing her hair off of her shoulder, I look at the mark that is slowly healing on her neck. I have never seen one quite like it. It is a crescent moon with a bright star in the center. Willow shutters as my fingers run over the mark.

“Alright. Let’s see what’s around here. Ash check out that one rental website. Try to find something isolated.” It isn’t a good idea for us to leave a trail for police to follow but we can’t hunker down in an abandoned barn if Willow is sick. She needs a healthier environment and other basic needs like a running shower. Her not being a wolf is going to complicate things. Not that she would be for long if we accepted her as our mate, but that is still a big IF. With this animal finding her, she might draw too much attention and that is the opposite of what we want.

It was just past 6:00 am when Willow dragged her exhausted body back to her apartment. As she was about to unlock the door, she suddenly saw the door across the hall open. She thought it was Serena and looked back. Instead, she saw Wilson slowly walking out with a coat in his hands. Willow was so startled that her keys fell to the ground. "Will? Why are you coming out of Serena's apartment?" Wilson's hair was slightly messy. His collar was slightly open, and his coat was draped over his arm. He even walked out on tiptoe.

She did it so smoothly, it was like she was never there to begin with. Wilson stood there dazed, unsure of what to think for nearly half an hour. Then, he decided to first clean himself up to avoid attracting those Savage blood sucking, flesh eating beasts of the forest. It only took him a minute to find a waterfall. It was hidden right behind a few thick trees just outside the clearing.
