A huge flat-screen television was installed on the wall across from the bed. They planned to watch N*****x there. To put it bluntly, he didn't give this any consideration. Lanaya entered and took a quick survey of her surroundings. Salvetti looked at her in complete astonishment. Having her in this room with him was enough to quiet the tempest in his mind. In other words, "You don't have much." As she approached the bookcase, she made the declaration. The question, "Who is Nietzsche?" "In the realm of German philosophy, he attained legendary status.

image he worked so hard to maintain. I closed the closet, still grinning, and wandered into his bedroom. On his nightstand I found more books, all by Fyodor Dostoevsky: Crime and Punishment, Notes from Underground, The Idiot, White Nights. I picked one up and flipped through it. The pages were worn, corners folded and some lines underlined. He wasn't just pretending to like this stuff, he really was a superfan of Russian literature. I didn't believe it when he first told me, but now I believed it without a doubt.

"Nietzsche. Dostoevsky. Some philosophy. It's heavy stuff. Might help kill time." She reached out and touched the worn leather cover of Beyond Good and Evil. Her fingers were gentle, almost reverent. It was the first real sign of life I'd seen from her since the library. "You read these?" Still that flat voice. "I do." She opened the book and scanned a random page. Quiet for a moment. Then, without looking up, she said, "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster." Word perfect. Even her accent nailed the German. My eyebrows went up. They have never liked Nikolai because he made his empire instead of inheriting it like the rest of them. We all looked outside the door in time to see Nikolai dragging a crying Viktor to the basement. There was blood all over his shirt and hands. He had a look I had never seen before. Not even when he beat the man who touched me to death. I got up from my seat and followed him

As if he'd seen something that could've been more. And now it was just… broken. That night, in the dark, Zane whispered to himself. “I will kill you Andrei Dostoevsky. I will kill you all." He said it again. And again. And even when his voice failed, the words echoed in his skull.

It is beside the point because Nietzsche was a poet and also a composer." "What?" I blinked; totally unprepared for this fairy to know more than I did about a human. "I don't believe Nietzsche would be as offended by our feast as you are," Uisdean mused. "I think he would agree with me when I say; you're letting your slave morality cloud your reason."
