Before Alex could answer, Freya said in a delicate voice, “This isn’t a Gimmick Puppet. This is a zombie refined using a living human. Look at its eyes. The pupils are golden, right? This is a golden-eyed Golden Zombie with infinite strength.” When Darven, who was hiding far away, heard the words, he smacked his head. “Oh right, Miss Mayer, your Exorcist Dragons specializes in fighting zombies. You should have a way, right?” Freya took out a black-and-red wooden stick with a pointy cone in the front and a sculpture of a dragon throne at the back. It had grains that looked like dragon scales all over its body.

Dragon starts rolling up his sleeves, revealing faded Calavera tattoos, “Chain’s fine. Got a tension tool in my box. I’ll fix it antes de que (before) sundown.” Poking at the rusted exhaust, “Pfft. Tool ain’t magic, kid. And this exhaust? Sounds like a dying chupacabra.” Dru stifles a laugh. I shoot her a glare, but I'm trying to hide my own smirk with my beard. Dragon shakes his head, then glances up towards Dru on the porch, “¿En serio (Seriously) You think I’d let her hurt? I seen what happens when you don’t guard your crew.” Dragon rolls up his sleeve further, revealing a tattooed date—“2003–2019”—inked beneath the Calavera’s hollow eyes. The numbers curl like smoke from a prayer candle,

Many would surrender. Kohl whipped his tail around and sent five boars into the approaching enemy. His father did the same, but more Tryn crashed over their fallen comrades. Their short, black leather wings unable to lift themselves more than a few feet from the ground. They were half the size of dragons and stood hunched over at about seven feet tall. Skin darker than the night and red glowing eyes as they scampered closer. “Go!” Kohl shouted. His father ignored him and threw another pig, then blasted the trees with his dragon fire to make them tumble and crush on top of several of the enemy.

"My platypus form isn't very useful out of the water." I can't believe he's teasing me. I want to see his dragon more than I want my next breath. And not just any dragon. I want my purple dragon. "At least a platypus is soft and cuddly." I respond like an idiot because I'm so enthralled with him.

Because I was having fun. And apparently fun made me dizzy, I conjured floating lights and flowers. Illusions and even tiny storms. Glittering butterflies. A miniature dragon made entirely from purple energy. The dragon immediately bit my finger. “Ow!” The dragon vanished, he as as grumpy as Conrad. I laughed despite myself. Perhaps if I could make a miniature dragon, I could make a bigger one to help us in the war. But that would require more practice, at least I could be useful.

Then I went to the kitchen table where Julie had left the drawings, weighted down with a crayon so they wouldn't slide, two pieces of paper in the particular bold lines of a four year old who doesn't yet know to doubt herself. The first was the dragon, which did look somewhat like a dog but had a convincingly fierce expression, and the second was a figure with long dark hair and a smaller figure on either side of her, all three of them holding hands, the sky above them full of yellow circles that might have been stars or might have been suns, Julie having not yet settled on the distinction. I sat down on the kitchen floor with my back against the cabinet, still in the dress, the premiere som

Oh well, Dion didn't mention that, and I don't need to know their family history. We placed the plate full of sandwiches and the orange juice on the wooden center table. We found Daniel sitting with Dion and Zhairo while holding a toy, a green creature that looks like a mosquito or what. I took a better look at it and realized it is one of Zhairo's toys. A creature from Bakugan. I looked at Dion and Zhairo too and found them holding creatures too. And as always, Zhairo is holding his favorite asset, a red dragon, he calls it 'Dragonoid'.

Dorin looked troubled. “You think we can still take it back?” Asked Johan, “I really don’t like them touching Dragon...” “No touch.” Dagon answered from the couch where he sat with Azra sleeping by his side. “Only Daa touch.” “Well, for now, that will do.” Dorin said with a flourish, looking at his handy work. “The ink should keep, I made it water and fade proof, just don’t scrub on it too hard. “Got it,” answered Johan who hurriedly put his new dragon scale tunic on. “Let’s get going to the kitchens then...” he put a shirt on top of his tunic since the weather was beginning to get colder.

Nya said. “Fair enough. Now, if you’ll excuse me….” Slate took a few steps backward into the fog, and before her very eyes, the human form before her shifted and grew. Nya blinked several times, not trusting her eyes. But it was true. Slate truly was the dragon. And now, in his large, threatening form, he turned around and stooped down for her to climb aboard.

My miracle. He was five now—soft curls, bright eyes, skin that held the golden warmth of a sunbeam. He had a gentle heart and a stubborn streak I know too well. And right now, he was coloring a giant red dragon with a blue crown. “It’s you,” he said suddenly, sitting up. I blinked. “Me?” Kelvin nodded solemnly and held up the drawing. The dragon was strong, with large wings, and it hovered over a small castle. “You’re the queen dragon. And you protect the castle from bad guys.”
