What? A knife sunk into my thigh and I let out a scream. He came out of nowhere and caught me before I fell to the ground. Excitement was burning in his eyes and his lips were pulled into a grin. "You ran quite fast, but not fast enough Trisha. You see, I didn't expect you to get far." his words were smooth and cold. Cold like the blood running out of my thigh. My vision blackened. I wondered how death was. Would it be painful or peaceful like my mother had described?

Lawrence defiantly raises his chin in the air as he asks what the consequences of disobeying the trainer means for us. I mean, they could ask for anything and the answer is already yes. That kind of power over another person is intoxicating. Who knows what they could ask for? Trisha doesn’t smile, in this moment she’s more the company’s representative than our guide. “You quit.” That is not an option. I swallow. “Do we at least get to pick out our trainers?” Trisha gives me a smile, all radiant and friendly again. “No silly. Do you know any of our veterans?”

Jackson, leaning forward with keen interest, interrupted, “Does it happen instantly? Or does it take time?” Shaking his head with a mysterious expression, Dragon replied, “There’s no fixed rule. Sometimes, the feeling is immediate and powerful. Other times, it’s gradual, like slowly discovering a missing piece of yourself.” But Jerry, not entirely satisfied with the answer, gave Dragon a challenging look. Suddenly, he asked a question that was like a stone dropped into still water: “And you, Dragon? Who is your mate?”

Then I want the warriors here in two hours". Damien led us all into the packhouse while Draco spoke with his dragons and Ariel spoke with her witches. Damien turned to me and Kayla and said, "I need you two to go change into some workout clothes and meet Zach and me out back. We need to learn those MMA moves ASAP. We are going to have to do this in all of our extra time, if we are going to catch up to our warriors." Kayla and I agreed and ran upstairs to change clothes. It was blown three times, each time it echoed off of the cave walls all around us, causing lots of dust to fall from the ceiling and float around us. With some people coughing, everyone began to move off and head back. I stayed for a few more seconds, finally being able to see the full image. There were the dragon and its rider, but it wasn’t just that. There were two massive armies, one seemed to be following the dragon rider as a lot of them had some kind of dragon insignia on their shield. The others were different. They looked wrong, there not human!

Gabriel says from beside Michael. “Why do I keep coming here, to this place?” I ask as I begin to relax slightly. “This place is sacred and we will not be disturbed here. Time neither moves forward or backwards despite the ticking clock hands in the realms below.” Uriel replies. “Here you can train for the battle that awaits without the restraints of time or limitations brought on by fatigue.” Gabriel continues. “How long have I been here already?” I ask. “Three days.” Michale replies and I am momentarily shocked.

“He got the sample he needed, but I do know he would like your human to stay a little. He is curious about the girl he heard so much about when he was young—the girl he hoped a mate bond could snap into place with. Dragons don’t have the same mate bond as Wolves. “ He laughed a little but did not explain. “Lunch is almost ready; please join us. I personally give your little human permission to smack him. Think of it as training! Smack him in the back of his head or his shoulder every time he acts like an antisocial grey rock with breathing functions. Train the human to behave.” He bowed slightly, and I enjoyed that last part of his sentence too much to try to decipher the previous thing he m

Much worse. I composed myself, plastering on a polite smile as I extended my hand. To my surprise, he smiled back and shook it, his grip firm but not crushing. “Hello, Luna,” he said, his voice gruff but respectful. “I’m your trainer.” I pulled my hand back, shaking my head slightly. “My name’s Aderyn, not Luna.” He hesitated, glancing at Bell, who merely shrugged. “Alright, Aderyn. I’m Train. That’s what everyone calls me around here.”

He’d been dying to see dragons in reality. Looking back, the crews had been keeping themselves busy on the deck, preparing their weapons and traps. Two enormous metal machines that looked like a giant crossbow stood in the middle, with huge long bolts gathered between them. Seeing the bolt throwers had put worry in Tristan’s chest. Those hunters would definitely go for the kill. And he had to do something about it to protect the dragons.

Clearly, this answered my question as to why a top pack couldn’t catch me when looting their territory in the past. "How is training going?" A deep voice catches my attention, and I turn to face Dominic, an easy-going grin on his face causing me to glare back at him. I call a water break for the Trackers, rolling my eyes as they cheer for a rest and start planning how to bring their stamina up. Before I start them with advanced training, these so-called “Trackers” need to up their stamina in human form then wolf form.
