“It’s a hazard. I once gave a guy a black eye. “That settles it,” I say, grabbing my keys. “We’re going golfing.” We drive to the mini golf centre with Viola chattering along the way. She seems happy. The place is half-empty, thank God. Just a few bored-looking teenagers and a dad coaching his toddler through hole three. Viola stands beside me in a pink zip-up hoodie she found in my car, her hair in a loose ponytail, eyes gleaming. We grab our putters. She picks purple, obviously. I go with black.

Trenton asked, taking a few steps back. “Okay, I see your point. While I don’t believe my father would have done that, I will take your word for it. Since you can turn back time, I will want you to show me what really happened back then, but later.” Cyran answered Trenton, as I held my breath to keep myself from throwing up. “First, let’s get rid of that black Dragon Mark.” Trenton waved his hand and a female, about my age stepped forward. She looked tiny and I couldn’t imagine that she was able to contain a Dragon within her. I knew there were female Dragons, but this was the first time I had seen one.

Narleen panicked as she looked at him before they fell back on Rosalie. “I call to the Golden Dragon. Use my strength and appear.” Rosalie spoke as she held out her hand palm facing the sky. Out of her palm shot sheets of gold that floated into a beautiful dragon shape. She lifted her other hand and purple floated out of her hand forming her purple dragon. “You stand between a mothers dream and her son. Now you will feel the wrath.”

The pain receded. Not gone. Not healed. But receded — the wave that had been building since the dragon's movement retreating to a manageable distance, as though the contact of her hands and the warmth moving through them had said to the curse: not right now. Not while I am here. I looked down at our hands. Then up at her face. "The vision," I said. She tilted her head slightly. "My dragon showed me something," I said. "While I was standing outside the door. Fragmented. Brief. But I understood what it was showing me."

There is no time for hesitation today. More enemies surge upward from the streets below. Fae warriors riding dragons. Archers loosing arrows tipped with burning magic. A lesser dragon dives toward my throat. I twist aside and rip his wing clean off. He plummets screaming into the broken street far below. Another dragon circles behind me. I spin midair and drive my claws through his skull. Blood rains down across the battlefield. And still Seraphina’s music continues. I feel it moving through me now. Through the bond.

The dragon lunged at her, flying low to the ground, green-yellow eyes locked on her. Right as the dragon would have snatched her in its jaws, she jumped and spun around over the dragon, slicing her blade down its back. Bright red blood bloomed from the wound she inflicted and the creature screamed in pain. The beast flew upwards toward the sky and looped back around, making a dive to her with clawed feet extended towards her. She found it annoying the only tactic this dragon seemed to have was diving and she figured his intelligence was low, causing her to smile right as the dragon would grab her again.

Valmore nodded, accepting what Mallik just said. "We only know about fairy drifters, we don't know about the dragons. Dragons are a race born in fairy, so it must be true. Only drifters have the ability to see us, so it must be true. It must be that Dragon drifter who tripped the drifter sensor" Valmore agreed. Mallik thought the same thing. "It's not the only thing I came across this time. I heard gossip that this dragon drifter's mate looks like the late princess Catherina and she must be Catherina's missing daughter" Mallik shared about the gossip that the entire summer realm is whispering about.

She nods in their direction, but remains in the shadows. Once she gets out of the camp she sees her dragon. The chaos of the camp was hiding her song. Aine is singing looking at the sky. Astrid looks up too. Tonight is a full moon. The night dragons mate. Aine is singing for Dracos. The guard returns after she tells him he will fly her dragon around. He offers to wait, but Astrid won't return soon so it's pointless for him to just sit around outside the safety of the camp. She lifts her hand and Aine pushes her huge head into it.
