I see a look of frustration cross his face. Was that frustration at me? I didn’t want to ask.

Drake deadpans. I burst out laughing. “Damn. So aggressive,” Matt mutters. “Children,” Layla groans inside my head. “Big. Fucking. Children.” She’s not wrong. I yawn loudly, stretching out on the couch. “I better get my little homicidal maniac to bed before she starts purring in her sleep,” Drake says, standing. “I do not purr,” Layla snaps through my mouth. Drake just grins. “Yes you do. I like it. It’s relaxing.”

Drake was out of the Pack, studying. I was already mated to Vanessa, and Trent was already a toddler when Dr. Drake returned and became the Pack's Doctor. So there's little to no chance that he knows Anastasia. He doesn't seem like he's curious either. He's keeping it professional. “She also has mild signs of fatigue. But that's all.” I nodded, unsure of what to say. I glanced at him and noticed how conflicted he was. Clearly, that wasn't all. He was struggling to say more.

Drake made a point of introducing all the leaders who didn't belong to the alliance, while they ate and drank. It was around 6 pm when Kat came out of the elevator, wearing a simple white dress, which gave her a sweet and pure look. She calls her mates to come and pick her up from the elevator, as she doesn't want to show up alone, and Alex and Micky go and get her. With an arm around each of her mates' arms, she enters the room, feigning the confidence she didn't have. Alex and Micky raise their eyebrows and Kat lets out a small scream of surprise when the leaders of the 15 packs present drop to one knee and lower their heads in total reverence. Kataleya says, holding up the colourful array of drinks she’s made. “Yesss! My baby!” Skyla purrs as Malevolent struts outside and I stop and stare when I catch sight of her. “The fuck is that?” Leo says, staring at the cat. My point exactly… but why am I not surprised… “What! She looks damn cute!” Skyla exclaims as she bends over and picks up Malevolent, who has been subjected to being squeezed into what is a two-piece green swimsuit. “Awww so cute!” Kataleya exclaims, going over to her and stroking her.
