Someone was watching. And whoever it was had just drawn the first real line.

He was holding onto a stone pillar, his muscles straining as he tried to grab a child who was being sucked into the black fire. "Kaima! Use the pencil!" he roared. "Don't worry about the price! Just do it!" I pressed the pencil to the ground. I didn't try to draw a house. I didn't try to draw a wall. I tried to draw a **Door** to the one place the Aethel-Corp could never go. But as the lead touched the salt, the pencil **shattered** in my hand. I stared at the broken wood and the dark lead.
