It was even harder for her to believe that Jacob was a vampire when she had never seen him drink human blood, nor had he attempted to suck her blood even though Claire had been alone with him several times. Jacob said that he eats in people's dreams. And that sounded a lot crazier. Food for the astral vampires was human blood energy and the way they eat was through human dreams. Did that make any sense? Of course not! Prayers were food for the souls. Religiously, she believed that. But the dream is impossible to be food for any creature. Dreams were made by the subconscious, especially if a person thinks hard. It's not like Jacob says that they can enter human dreams.

I feel so weak, I can't fight back. I wake up sweating again and I feel like I'm going to throw up. I rush out of bed and head to the bathroom. Luckily nothing comes out. I've never puked as a vampire and I can't remember my human life. I really don't want that human trait. No thank you. I look in the mirror, I look sickly. The image of him grabbing my hair flashes in my head. I stumble forward gripping the sink. That was a more accurate dream. That is Thorne. I need to find him and kill him.

You get both good and evil, and sometimes those who are caught in between. You see, being a vampire doesn't turn you into a monster. It only enhances what's already there. I walked over to the bed and let myself flop onto it, gathering the pillows and snuggling under the quilt, I let myself sink into the softness of it all, trying to pretend I was in my own bed and everything I feared wasn't just outside the door. My tired eyes flickered shut and I hoped I wouldn’t have another dream like every other night, of vampires sucking every ounce of blood from my body, then when they were done with me, they’d turn to my mum next while my dad fled without trying to pay them their money. I think it was is just a slip that I found some of them drunk, but they still have the seriousness engraved in their behavior. I walk through a long corridor full of closed doors. There must be specific bedrooms for each one of them. They seem to be very awake like their day has just started I bet they sleep all day and party all night.
