The tears never seemed to stop rolling as they chained our hands and feet together before pulling us like goats to their destination. Children wailed,lads and lasses shivered in fear but I wasn’t scared. My only source of living,my reason for being on Earth was dead and there’s nothing I could do. In the middle of the night, I have strange dreams of our kind fighting humans, witches, and vampires. It seems so vivid that I am sure it is real, but when I wake up in a sweat, I realize that it is not. It was just realistic.

I still felt the grasping hands emerging in my dreams were too real. Sol's hands froze at my side for a moment before they rested on my legs. I didn't move away from his touch. I watched as his thumb rubbed my leg gently in slow motions as he spoke. "I have to admit that I have had very few daymares until recently." A deep frown settled on my face as I registered his words. A 365- or 366-year-old vampire didn't have dreams. It seemed like a tormented thing. "What was your nightmare about?" he eventually asked. I shook my head as I sighed deeply. I turned my eyes from him to the open window on my right side. The sun was just setting coming up.

Exhaustion and the brandy eased my way into a deep sleep. My dreams that night were sticky and wet, filled with pain and blood. The vampire morphed and wore my face while the deer and a small child lay dead at my feet. I woke screaming, sweat pouring off me and my heart pounding in terror. Derek was there with me, sitting on the edge of my bed.

A dream. With that in mind, the young girl forced herself to sleep, hoping that once she opens her eyes tomorrow that all that she went through tonight will be nothing but a nightmare. Being a vampire is nothing but a nightmare. One that she didn't want to experience!
