Everything around me felt old and forgotten, like the forest was waiting for something.
I found Mark crouched near a broken tree, his back turned to me, shoulders taut. He didn’t move when I approached. For a second, I wasn’t sure if he even noticed me.
“She said you dream of my death,” I whispered, barely able to get the words out.
His head bowed lower.
“Is it true?” My voice cracked. “Do you see me die in your dreams?”
Silence.
Then: “Yes.”
I swallowed hard, My heart started to race. “How?”
