Drew laughed, swiping his phone to discard a text from one of the numerous girls who thought they loved him. "Thank you guys, I mean we've stuck with ourselves all these years without fighting. Damn, it's not easy.'' Jack grinned. Later on, after everything had been concluded concerning the meeting with the Governor the following day, Drew drove back home. On his way home, he made a quick stop at the mart to get Laura her favorite chocolate cookies which he knew she would love.

I glanced down and realized I had a small scrape, probably from earlier when I had been playing with the twins. “Damn it,” I muttered under my breath. “You’re hurt.” I nearly jumped at the sound of Jake’s deep, groggy voice. I turned quickly, finding him rubbing his eyes, his brows furrowed as he stared at my knee. “It’s nothing,” I said quickly. Jake didn’t look convinced. In one smooth movement, he sat up fully, his muscles flexing slightly as he leaned forward. I had barely processed what was happening before his large, calloused hand wrapped around my ankle, pulling me toward him.

After a while, Drew would look again at the rearview mirror and Jake would still have that smile while looking through the closed window. They arrived at the Tn studio. Jake had taken of his suit jacket and now was left with his sleeved shirt.
