Jake was at the bar, his blond hair catching the light as he mixed a martini, his smirk telling me he saw right through my bullshit. “You look like you’re running from someone,” he said, leaning closer, his citrus-and-gin scent sharp enough to make my mouth water. “Maybe I am,” I muttered, grabbing a tray. I hadn’t told him about Justin’s text, but Jake’s knack for reading me was fucking annoying. “Drake again?” he asked, his voice low, teasing. “He’s been sniffing around here, asking about you.” My stomach flipped, a mix of dread and desire pooling low. “He’s here?” I scanned the dining room, half-expecting Xiamond’s glossy updo or Justin’s hazel eyes to burn through me.

Jake I drew my eyes to the stunning figure of Evelyn at soon she got out of the car. She wore blue jeans and a tank top that swayed in the breeze, highlighting her loose locks, which carried her sweet fragrance in my direction. My body tensed with anticipation as my gaze followed her every move. I was aware of Jacob's presence beside me, as he was trying to pull me back from the brink of what I knew he saw as ill-advised behavior.

After sorting out the immediate problem, the duo decided to relax a bit before heading over to their crib. "What?", Jake said. He was dressed in gray slacks over a white open collared shirt. Killian on the other hand was dressed in dark blue shorts over a red t-shirt. Both of them were comfortable in their clothes while Drew desperately wished he could shed his Armani suit and be free.

I glanced down and realized I had a small scrape, probably from earlier when I had been playing with the twins. “Damn it,” I muttered under my breath. “You’re hurt.” I nearly jumped at the sound of Jake’s deep, groggy voice. I turned quickly, finding him rubbing his eyes, his brows furrowed as he stared at my knee. “It’s nothing,” I said quickly. Jake didn’t look convinced. In one smooth movement, he sat up fully, his muscles flexing slightly as he leaned forward. I had barely processed what was happening before his large, calloused hand wrapped around my ankle, pulling me toward him.
