Novel & Cerita Duel Runners

Finally, he was complimenting her. "Thank you. Now can I move to archery?" She asked hopefully. "No, the duel is in three days and it would be a battle of strength and endurance not skills." Lara's face fell. She had heard a lot about endurance to last her a long time. Hopefully, she'll be able to win the duel. The worst part was it would be taking place in the capital. There's a ring specially prepared for duels like this. Brad had taken her to get a view of what it looked like. It looked like a place where someone could die and no one would be able to save the person.

They all like the idea. “Good.” Kyle continues. “The competition only involves duels between two people until there's a winner in each category. The higher-ups will be responsible for pairing you with your duel partners and the best three fighters in each category will receive handsome rewards. So, anticipate something big.” “Sounds cool.” “Yeah. Also, there'll be two important guests present for the occasion. Alpha Morgan of the Creek Bay pack and Alpha Rowan of the Blue Diamond Pack. They'll be present to watch.”

“That’s archaic…” “It’s punishment. It has to be.” Nyx finished her tea and stood. She didn’t look at Alaric across the hall, though she could feel the attention like pressure between her shoulder blades. Duels weren’t about knowledge. They were about dominance with witnesses. About forcing conflict into tidy lanes where the institution could declare winners and losers and pretend the outcome was neutral. They were drawing battle lines. The first duel pairing went live an hour later. CALDER, NYX VS HARTWELL, ELIAS

The Triad salesman pauses, looking a bit confused “What brings you to the Tea Shop anyway?” “14K always gets the good stuff. Bit of a 26D institution.” The Triad salesman smirks, lowering his guard as he signals a henchman to open up a huge crate lined up with a few drones. Spider types, rolling balls, a dog one and of course runners. Runners were anthropomorphic, highly customizable, and preferred by megacorps due to their reliability in nearly every terrain. The human form was always adaptable. “How much are the runners?” she asks, pointing at the one covered in smooth bluish white paint. It had a round shape, hawkish face plate and the scrubbed logo of Thelma-Dionis on its neck. “You talk

"The Council claims I had freedom of movement to commit murder. They say I slipped their watchers, evaded their geas, appeared and vanished like a ghost in the night. But a duelist has no privacy. Every move is witnessed. Every strike is recorded by the arena's memory crystals." "And if you lose?" I smiled, the sharp expression that Rina Vale had learned from a thousand villainess novels. "I won't." The arena was gold and bone. Sandstone columns rose like ribs from the earth, supporting a canopy of enchanted glass that filtered the dawn into amber shards. The dueling circle was a perfect disk of white marble, etched with runes that would contain lethal magic and prevent death - usually. The

"Enough. She won. But the Ravagers aren't going to let this go. They've called for a Blood Duel to settle the territorial rights before the final championship." My heart stopped. A Blood Duel wasn't a race on a track. It was a midnight run through the Devil's Backbone a treacherous mountain pass with no lights and a thousand-foot drop. "And who are they sending?" Dax asked, his jaw tight. "Not The Butcher," Dutch said, a cruel light entering his eyes. "They're sending Victor Kane himself. The man who owns your father's debt, Mia." I looked at Dax, and for the first time, I saw real fear in his eyes. He knew what I knew: Victor Kane didn't just win races. He made sure his opponents never came

It is because of all these wrongs that I ran and will keep on running. The safe-haven I call the town line finally comes into view, bringing renewed hope into my being. I take the chance to pick up speed and rush into the safety net. I feel some resistance at first as if some invisible force is trying to keep me out, but I keep pushing forward, and soon I am safely across, relief causing my nerves to settle down. I turn around to face my pursuers with a smug grin, slowly walking backwards as I take in each of their faces.

If I could find a vantage point and rain down arrows on the necromancer's forces, perhaps I could turn the tide of the battle. As I reentered the chamber, the scene that greeted me was one of utter chaos. The creature and the necromancer were still locked in their titanic struggle, their massive forms crashing against the walls and the floor, the very ground trembling beneath their might. Damien and Phillip were still engaged in their savage duel, their claws and fangs tearing through flesh and bone with a primal ferocity. Elijah and Liam were holding their ground against the necromancer's undead horde, but I could see the fatigue and desperation in their movements.

The pack members howled in excitement, clapping their hands. “We will begin today's activities with a duel. We already have interested candidates who would love to show their strength to you all, but before I call on them, I would like to call on Alpha Grayson and Beta Luke as our very first contestants,” Evelyn announced with enthusiasm, causing an uproar of excitement among the pack members. “Alpha Grayson! “Alpha Grayson! “Alpha Grayson,” the pack members chanted. Evelyn left the stage as Alpha Grayson and Beta Luke stood up from their seats and went to the area prepared for the duel.

My heart was pounding in my chest. My breathing sped up the faster I ran. I could feel every pound of my paws on the forest floor. The wind ruffled my fur as I picked up speed. A part of me was afraid, yes. I could hear his footsteps miles behind me. I could hear that he was not running as fast as he could, which meant he was toying with me. I’d never been a particularly fast wolf when compared to others like Melissa who was the fastest wolf in our pack, so I knew for sure that he could catch me. I just didn’t think he would try. I underestimated his pride and anger.
