The scent still lingered. Even days later, it clung to the market like smoke—sharp, clean, metallic. Cedar. Ash. Steel. Evelyn caught it in the breeze behind a stack of apples, at the edge of her sleeve, drifting beneath the bakery’s chimney smoke. Every time it brushed past her, something inside her shifted. Not her heart. Not her breath. Her wolf. Not with desire. Not quite. With something older. Something more primal. Deeper than anything else.

However, Edward can’t see that far ahead. I clinch my fists as I begin to walk a little faster. I take a deep breath to try and get my mind off of how irritating Edward is when I suddenly get a whiff of that amazing coffee scent. Without thinking, I let my feet guide me to where the scent is coming from, which happens to be the same restaurant that I’m heading to for my lunch. I keep taking deep breaths as the delicious coffee scent gets stronger and stronger. My wolf is practically howling in delight as I enter the restaurant and the coffee smell engulfs me.

The windows in the living room were still open, and a gentle chilly night breeze brushed past Edward and Ophelia. Rather than feeling cold, Edward found the breeze extremely inviting. "Ophelia, what's going on? Tell me what happened." "Edward…" Ophelia threw herself into his arms. She could smell his cologne, which was her favorite scent. She nuzzled against him before hugging him tightly. Edward froze all over and did not move for a moment. Afterward, he responded in a low hum and drew her into his arms. "I'm here."

Quickly I threw my attention to my book and waited patiently for him to open the door, my mind racing. "Hey hon who's car is in the-" the door opened and my father stared at Edward. "Well hello." "Oh dad this is Edward Cullen, Doctor Cullen's son," I gestured casually to him as I looked up from my book. "We are studying for the history test." I tried not to panic as I gave a quick smile and rolled tenderly onto my side to face him. "Well okay then." He scratched the back of his head and cleared his throat. "Well nice to meet you son, I unfortunately didn't bring enough food for three I thought it was just me and Arabella tonight..." He looked around and then rocked on his heels for a moment.
